how bad is it to sit in the very back of the airplane

Looks like we are flying JetBlue....we are trying to figure out finances to see if we can swing it to order the tickets tomorrow.

With JetBlue if you sit way in the back of the plane you get to board first which would be awesome since we will have Michelle.

So pros & cons of sitting in the back please

  • I actually prefer the back of the plane.  The only thing I don't like is the bathroom right there.

You will be last off, but I can't stand being in the crush of people in an all out hurry.

  • Most airlines let you board early/first if you have small children.  I would just book a seat (closer to the front means you get off faster ;) and then ask at the gate if you can board early with your child.
  • you get to board first with a child anyway.  they always reserve some seats on the plane.  call them and see if you can switch seats.
  • well, for SOME reason, it seems that people store up all of their feces, so that when the plane takes off they have to get up and use the tiny closet restroom right next to your seat...all of them. everyone on the plane is going to take a sh!t 3ft away from your seat, and you are going to smell it, and there is nothing you can do about it.

on the plus side, if your kid is naughty, you'll bother less people. hardly a consolation.

  • It's loud.

It's usually close to the bathrooms so ppl are always crowded around in the aisles.

If you're the least bit claustrophobic, it's difficult to sit at the far back and look up into the vast expanse of the tube you're confined into.

Sitting in the back means you're the last ones OFF and that means it's going to take a while to get off the plane.

  • Most lower cost airlines have actually stopped early boarding, so check Jetblues rules.
  • Also, if your seats are literally in the very back, meaning the last row of the plane, very often the seats don't recline at all and it's rather uncomfortable.

This.  And I'm one of those people that likes to drink on flights and therefore use the potty 2 or 3 times.  However, I have not taken a dump on one yet.

  • I fly JetBlue  A LOT!  it is MUCH better and much more comfortable than other airlines!  They DO let people with children board first!  I flew them 2 weeks ago!  their seats have way more leg room than the so called established airlines!
  • Jetblue lets you pre-board with kids, regardless of where you are sitting. I am not a fan of the very back - next to the bathrooms, crowded, in the last row the seats don't recline...but, it is technically safer!  I am a scaredy cat about flying (which is sad becuase we fly all the time) so I know all the stats :) Never sit more tha 8 rows from an exit!

  • I've flown several times with the kids, and I actually prefer to wait until the last possible minute to board. ?The less time we spend confined to our tiny row of seats, the better. ?Michelle is old enough that she may not mind sitting in the seat, but when Evan was a younger toddler, it was hellish trying to hold him down and keep him from standing up and pushing the call button.
