HSG in an hour....what to do

Long story short, they're squeezing me in for an HSG today.  Can I drive myself or do I need DH to drive me?  I live like 5 mins from the dr. office.  Also, do I need to do this on on empty stomach?  I just ate lunch b/c I was starving....help and TIA!!

  • I think if they were squeezing  you in then you wont be taking valium? As long as your arent taking anything then you should be able to drive..you might have slight cramping after..everyones different good luck!!

i would think the fact that you just ate would be ok too!

  • You can drive yourself. You do not need an empty stomach. Take some advil now and relax. You will feel some cramping that may be intense for a couple of minutes.
  • You should be fine to drive yourself -- I did with no problem.

Take a couple pain releivers right now to prepare. Empty/ full stomach doesn't matter.

Many women find this procedure very painful, so I was REALLY freaked out beforehand...but it was only mildly uncomfortable for me. Good luck!

  • I think it'd be fine if you had lunch before you had the HSG.  I had my husband go with me (because I'm a wimp), but I've heard of many women who drive themselves.  It's a good thing they're getting you in in a pinch so that you don't have time to think about it - I wish that I didn't have the anticipation to deal with as that's the worst part.

  • You can eat and yes I think you can drive yourself. I had a friend go with me but I prob could have handled it just fine.
  • Take 4 advil or motrin 30 minutes before the procedure.  It should help with the cramping.  I was fine to drive home afterward, I just needed to sit and calm myself down for 10 or 20 minutes and then I was good to go.  Advil is your friend.

  • You can drive yourself

    Eat up

  • You'll be fine.  Take some advil now.  You can drive yourself, even go about your planned activities for the day after.  It might be uncomfortable or even painful for a few minutes-the advil should help.
