I know you shouldn't disturb a baby when they are sleeping - but sometimes DD is just too cute to not pick up and sometimes she wakes up....but then she gives me a big smile and goes back to sleep.
Web sleeps on his tummy, I don't let him sleep after 5 pm until bedtime, I use Selsun Blue on his head for cradle cap (per the dr), he sleeps with a blanket over him, etc. I break a lot of rules. But that's what works for our family. He's happy, we're happy - and that's all that matters.

Does this work and make him sleep longer at night? I'm genuinely curious.
We've started keeping his seahorse in his crib. It helps him sleep better, and since he already sleeps on his face despite our every attempt at keeping him on his back, we know he can roll away from it.
There are several things in Nathan's crib, including a fleece blanket he sleeps with, we hardly ever use the monitor unless outside, we let him take naps whenever he wants, even if it's right before bed, we don't always burp him after he eats, he doesn't get his vitamins every day because he hates them.
DD has always slept with a blanket of some sort. When I was on leave I would put her in her bouncer and put it on the bed so I could snooze. Other than that, we follow mostly everything. Since she still sleeps in the room with us we don't use the monitor that much.
I constantly combine pumped milk of different temps. I've even ::gasp:: put a formula bottle back in the fridge and reused it if she didn't finish it within the hour. I also let her sleep on the couch.
I lay DS on the couch and if he falls asleep there I leave him (once he starts to try to roll over I'll stop).
I bedshare with him (which not everyone thinks is a no-no) because that's one of the only ways he will sleep at night and lets face it, I'm exhausted. If he wanted to sleep in my face I'd let him. And I cover him with a blanket.
I took DS to the mall when he was 5 days old, I just left him covered in his carseat/stroller and didn't let anyone touch him or get in his face. (I was a b!tch about it to strangers).
I bath him every 2 days (I think my pedi said every 3-4 at his age).
I use lavender J&J bath cloths on him too.
I use baby powder sometimes.
I must be a horrible mom.

I sometimes put DS in the bouncer and then put the bouncer on the kitchen table so he can see what I'm doing... I take the dog out for a 5 minute potty break while DS is napping without taking the monitor with me... DS doesn't like to be swaddled, but we still cover him with a lightweight blanket at night.

The no sleeping after 5 pm thing??? Yes. We also don't fight bedtime because of this. We even try to keep him up after 4 til bedtime. By the time we give him his bath, lotion massage, and a warm bottle, he's out! And he really enjoys it.

I'm with you all the way here...except for that couch business. But our couch sucks.

DS is in the Bumbo on the counter and on the table, he rolls in his sleep and sleeps on his tummy, I have regular bumpers in his crib, I have always woken a sleeping baby just to stick to a schedule.
I put the bouncer on an elevated surface, I use a bumper, I let him nap when he wants to, and he has slept in his crib in his room since day 1 (the horror!)

This is our routine too. We found that once we started keeping Em up after 6 and doing the bath routine, she was a super sleeper and we didn't have a b!tch of a time getting her to bed.
I didn't buckle DD into her swing until just recently
I put her bumbo on the kitchen counter while I get dinner ready
She slept in her crib since day 1
I'll tuck a blanket tightly over her in her swing and have it just high enough to hold her bink in because I'm too lazy to keep sticking it back in her mouth
I'll leave her in her swing (safely buckled now) and go upstairs to put away laundry
It's crazy, I didn't even realize some of these were "rules". Like the letting them nap when they want thing or taking them out. Guess I just live on the edge.
Tummy sleeping scares the bejesums out of me, so that's one rule I don't break. I figure the rest are mere suggestions. Much like most rules I encounter....
Re: So what "rules" do you break?
Between 3 kids - I have used my monitor maybe 3 times!

This is hilarious!
What kind of pillow? I am convinced my DS would sleep better with a pillow of some type under his head.
its just a regular ol pillow we've had forever.
its not even fluffy anymore. its as flat as a pancake.
we do it bc she's always congested and it helps her sleep better.

sleeps on tummy
have regular bumpers. can't stand the look of the breathable..
use baby powder.
took him off of his preemie formula 1 month early. couldn't afford it anymore.
I prop her bottle.
She has no type of routine yet
She has blankets in her crib
She was out of the house at 3 days old.
I am sure there are plenty more.
DS sleeps on his tummy (I can't help it, he rolls)
I put a blanket on him for naps during the day.
I've fed him while he is in his carseat and we are driving.?
DD has been a tummy sleeper since she was 2 weeks old.
She sleeps with several lovey blankets in her crib.
We use regular bumpers.
pretty much all of the SIDS rules.
bumpers, sleep positioners, blankets...
though starting tonight...just the bumper....
DD slept on my chest every night for the first month and a half.
She sleeps with a little silky blanket every night.
I fed her in the carseat for the first time yesterday. We were on the highway with no way to pull over.
And I bath her every night. There is no way her chunky rolls would stay clean if I bath her every 3 days haha. Thats just crazy.
His crib is some kind of danger zone! He sleeps on his tummy, with a blanket, and I use a regular bumper! (The horror)
AND, I often consider his sleeping time as tummy time!

We use blankets and LO loves to pull them on and off his head.
Sometimes we use powder.
He sleeps whenever and wherever he wants.
We take him out a lot (we don't let strangers touch him or come near him though...we don't even let family touch him too much.)
