Any mom/dads get whooping cough vaccine?

DH got it yesterday from his company (they were giving him vaccines for overseas travel he has coming up - and told him he should have this b/c we have newborns at home).

Anyone here get it?

I feel that this gets overlooked- b/c it's the parents who get the vaccine after baby is born- so it's not the OB's responsibility to mention it... and the pedi is treating the child, not the parent, so will often not recommend it... and parents don't go to the doc unless they are sick.

I plan to ask my pedi about it today at the appt and see if he can order it for me (he's a FP doc so treats adults, too).

My husband and I got it, but you only need it before they get the dtap vaccine which is usually at 8 weeks.

I was given it while I was in the hospital.

I think I got it at the hospital before they discharged me.

Is it bad that I'm not sure what I got a shot for? Baby ate my brain. nom nom nom.

DH and I are planning to get it too. The NP gave us info on it at our appt today, and you're right... parents tend to overlook the ones that we need in order to prevent giving something to our LOs!

I got it combined with tetanus in the hospital after delivery.

I got it in the hospital. I should look into DH getting it soon though!

They gave me dtap and mmr when I left the hospital after delivering. Apparently, my old mmr was no longer effective and since Rubella can cause serious birth defects, my hospital routinely tests moms who have just given birth to see if they need a booster.
