At how many weeks did your doctor want to see you for your initial visit?
Mine said 8 but I absolutely positively can't wait this long. I'm not so worried about getting an Ultra Sound (I know nothing will show for a while) it's more for me to calm my nerves. This is my first child and I have no idea what to expect. I'm a planner and would like to know what I have instore in terms of testing etc. I am reading the Mayo clinic book but it's not cutting it.
I put a call into my doctor to find out if I can get in any earlier. I also had a short Luteal Phase so I want to make sure everything is OK with my progest. levels.

I went to my regular doctor's office right away to confirm the pregnancy.
My Ob/Gyn WOULD NOT even consider seeing me until I was at least 8 weeks. Some women go in earlier if something has happened in the past or if they are high risk. There is a reason they want you to come at that time, so I would listen to your OB. I felt the same as you.(Its my first pregnancy as well) I found out I was pregnant when I was 5 weeks and my OB made my appointment for 9 weeks 2 days. I COULD NOT WAIT. Well, guess what! I had too. lol Waiting became easier and easier, and when that day came it was AMAZING. We had our ultrasound and got to see our LO and its heartbeat. We even got to take home our pictures. In the end , Im glad I waited because 1. there is going to be ALOT of waiting in pregnancy and the sooner you get used to it the better and 2. If we had an earlier one we most likely wouldnt have been able to see anything , which would make me (and most others) nervous and make waiting for next time even harder.
Hope things work out with your appointments!
My first appointment was at 6 weeks 0 days. This was for blood work and history. My next was a week later for blood test results and initial PAP.
This is my first also so I really didn't know what to expect. Our insurance actually only allows for 1 u/s so we won't get that until 20 weeks. At my 12 week appointment we did hear the HB, which was amazing and makes it so much more real. It does seem like a lot of people have multiple u/s and get to hear the HB way earlier than I did, but I guess every doctor is different.
Good Luck, mine told me to bring a list of questions to the first appointment and was totally great with answering them for me.
