MIL is upset with me :(

in 2nd Trimester

MIL came over last night and saw that we had purchased the crib and changing table.  Both were floor models of approx $1000, but we got htem both for under $400.  How could we refuse!

A friend of mine gave us a brand new Graco carseat (used twice for her DD).

MIL is upset that there are no more BIG items left to be purchased.  Am I missing something on my registry?

    Someone mentioned registering for a convertible a few posts down.  Maybe go for one of those.

    Are you going to use a bassinet?

    Do you want a glider for the nursery?  There's also the swing, a jumperoo and highchair.  Any of those work?

    Is the Graco seat an infant seat or convertible?  (You can add the other one, depending on your needs.)  What about a stroller?  Those are usually considered bigger items.  A high chair?  I don't know how "big" of an item she would like to purchase.

    Stroller, another car seat, Bedding set (if you're doing one), all the bedding (if you aren't), diapers, exersaucers, jumperoo, pack and play, high chair. I don't know what her budget is, but all of that is over $100.

    What about the stroller, swing, pack n play, etc.? ?Those items are all usually over $100. ?She could just get a few items if she's wanting to spend more money than that. ?

    Well I would think another big item would be the stroller or travel system, how about a small dresser for the baby or something like that?  Did you get the mattress with the crib? Plus there is still bedding and all that.  I'm not sure if you bought any of those things yet or not, but I would think they are some big items.

    Haha.  One of my friends registered for a Nintendo Wii on hers!  

    My friend gave us a play yard with a bassinet in it.  I have just added a Travel system (we can use the donated one as an alternate for DHs car.

    I did want a glider but MIL wont buy it because she feels it is unnecessary!   Same woman who did not want me to get a change table because it was not needed.

    The swing, stroller, and a nice glider for the nursery. Those are the other "big ticket" items that are on mine. May I suggest splurging on the super comfey chair glider, it looks like a normal livingroom chair but it glides, they are amazing!

    my mom just freaked on me for the same reason...except we paid full retail!  anyway, i told her i never would have put my furniture on the registry anyway because i wouldn't want others to think i expected such a large gift (not that there's anything wrong with that).  we're going to register in a couple of weeks so i guess i need to be sure to add some pricey items. good luck!

    Do you have a swing, bouncy seat, stroller, pack n play, etc?  Those are still pretty big ticket items.  Or a glider or rocking chair?  Breastpump if you are planning on BFing?

    You got a great deal & I would also have bought it!  If she's looking to spend as much as the furniture would have cost & there's really nothing left, what about a savings bond or college savings fund for the baby.

    I personally find it odd that she is passing judgement on what she thinks is necessary.  That is quite ridiculous- you're the one taking care of it, I think you would know what you need!! Tongue Tied

    If she wants to buy one of the items you already purchased she can give you the money?  I found my stroller on mamabargains and bought it.  My mom is going to give us the money for it.  It was a great buy.  MY MIL told us to buy the crib we want and she gave us the money for it.  Especially with the internet there are so many deals to be had they realized I can find a better price.

    As for pricier things what about a video monitor?  A convertible car seat is another great big ticket item.

    Can she give you $$ towards the furniture?  That's what we did with my MIL after the same guilt trip when we bought furniture and glider for DD.  Found out later that's her "thing"...that one gift is exactly the item she wanted to get us after we'd already received / purchased the item.

    Two words:  reclining glider!  They are amazing (and not cheap!)
