2nd Trimester

When did you grow out of your clothes?

So, this Monday when I went to get dressed for work, my pants were too tight. :-( So, all week I've been dying sucking myself in and wearing dresses some days to help. I'm usually a size 0/2, so I thought I would be able to wear my clothes for much longer. I went to find some new pants a couple sizes bigger, but didn't have much luck. I'm planning on getting a bella band, but I haven't told work yet, so I can't actually wear it! ugh...

Just curious about when others had this problem and what you did?

Re: When did you grow out of your clothes?

  • i was never a size 0/2 but i grew out of my clothes last time at about 37 1/2weeks... but didnt feel like buying anything new... so i just neglected to button my clothes the last 2 weeks...  Embarrassed

  • I started wearing maternity clothes around 12 weeks.  I wore a bella band for a while before and after that.  No one will be able to see it if your shirts are long enough.

  • It was right around 12 weeks that I could no longer button many of my pre-pregnancy pants and my boobs went through a major growth spurt shortly thereafter which resulted in none of my tops fitting either. I've been in maternity clothes since the very beginning of the 2nd trimester.
  • Im a size 0/2 as well and I was like maybe 14 weeks when my pants started getting too tight, :( But I got alot of maternity pants online size 2 and they fit good even the stretchy part around the belly.
  • I wore a band and loose flowy tops to work for weeks before people started to figure it out. If your shirt covers the band you can be comfortable without letting people know.
  • Well, I'm about 20 sizes bigger than you (nice thought..ugh!!!)...but my pants got too tight a few weeks ago, and I finally broke down and got a bella band and a pair of maternity pants this week.
  • I have a bella band and have worn it a few times with different pants.  For the most part my regular pants fit, it's not always the most comfortable but it works.  Some of my tops are snug, thanks to the boobs growing (i am not complaining abotu that one at all!).  I have a few pairs of maternity capri's that a friend lent me, I may try those this weekend and see how the feel.

I wear scrubs at work, and I think this was my last week in my non maternity scrubs, I cant wear them any lower and there is no more give in the waist, so I may move on to the maternity scrubs (pants at least) next week.

  • I can still get away with wearing a few pairs of pants to work, I just can't button them all the way up. Lately I've just been wearing a lot of cotton, flowy dresses and skirts in pre-preg. sizes that stretch. I can still get away with wearing some pre-preg. shirts, but almost all my work shirts are maternity. I started buying maternity shirts around 19w, because I felt like my other ones just weren't long enough.

BTW, hokiefan04, are you a VT alum? My DH graduated from there in 2005 :)
