Adoption

So, this matching thing is frustrating...

The way it works is our caseworker sends out our flier (yes, a flier) to all the county caseworkers in PA and those caseworkers can send along potential matches.  We can look for children on the www.adoptpakids.org website and ask our caseworker to look into them.  I've been doing that a lot since waiting to hear from my CW is annoying.

DH and I found a sibling group (two little girls) we are interested in.  They had a hearing last month where a relative came forward, but she apparantly has a crummy C&Y record, but the judge is going to see how they all get along before making a decision in October.

Meanwhile foster mom isn't sure if she wants to adopt them or not.

If anyone ever makes up their minds we can possibly talk to their caseworker in October.  Meanwhile, I guess we keep looking.

Ugh, these little children hurt my heart. How anyone can possibly think a relative with a record with C&Y would be a good placement, I don't know.  And then to have a waffling foster mom on top of it...geesh.

  • I'm sorry! That has to be very frustrating.

  • I used to look at adoptuskids and would just get a huge ache in my heart because I wanted to take all of them home!  (((HUGS)))  I can't imagine how tough and frustrating it is to express interest and have it go nowhere!
  • I do look at www.adoptuskids.org, but currently we are only approved for PA children.

As far as foster parents waffling, adopted children in PA continue to get a stipend until age 18, so that's not the excuse in this case.

I know the right one will come along, but good gracious it is hard.

  • Foster parents are licensed through the state, so we'd have to be licensed through another state if we wanted to broaden our search.
