I'm a little bummed about it, but not stressing. We heard it on the doppler at the dr's office at 8w3d, but I realize theirs is probably a better doppler. I did find my hb about 3 or 4 times.
I didn't get my doppler til I was about 15 weeks, and even then it was hard for me to find. I didn't find it quickly and easily til about 20 weeks or so.

This may be really dumb, but did you try turning up the volume? I ask because you said you kept finding your own (which is likely louder than the babe's)
Also, and I'm sure you know this, the dr. is better at finding it because that's what they do.

Yup, the volume was up. I sure hope the Dr./nurse is better at this than me, haha.

Any words of advice?
This is exactly why I'm not buying one. I would be so stressed if I couldn't find it. I am not saying you should be nervous, I am just saying how I would react and my Dr. would probably take it from me because I would annoy her so much about it.
I'm right there with ya! I just got my doppler and haven't heart baby's hb yet. In my mind baby is playing hide-and-go-seek! I just need to keep 'seeking' and eventually baby will cooperate! GL..hopefully you'll find it soon!
Just got my doppler today...and it took us about 40 minutes to find the heartbeat. We youtubed some video and realize that it was a lot lower than we were expecting. I was expecting it to be closer to the belly button, but it was right above the panty line. We lost the hb after 10 seconds, but it was the best 10 seconds ever. GL!
I know my post is a little late but you can't typically hear a baby heart beat on a home doppler for another few weeks. Even alot of doc's office's have to try and get the heartbeat internally in the first trim.
Re: Got doppler, but couldn't find the hb...
There are a few different tricks.
* Try pushing down on it a little bit, you may feel like you are pushing to hard but your not
* Keep it in one place and just tilt it a little and move very slowly..
