3rd Trimester

Frustrated with my new body!

Ok- I know that gaining weight is healthy and normal during pregnancy and I am fine with that. However, I have seen my thighs, arms, back, and butt grow and grow more than my belly. My belly is finally catching up and I only have a few weeks left. Everyone kept telling me my stomach was too small - but that's because the weight went everywhere. Is anyone else frustrated at the same thing? I still workout 5 -6x a day (as I did before) and my weight gain is in the recommended zone but I wouldn't be frustrated if it were mostly in my belly. I am worried about not being able to fit into my normal clothes afterwords- since my entire body gained weight and not just my stomach.

Re: Frustrated with my new body!

  • I have been gaining weight all over too. I knew my arms would get bigger because when I gain weight it always goes to my arms. I have seen people gain tons of weight with pregnancy and then look terrific afterwards. I know it's hard but try not to stress too much.

  • You work out 5-6x a day? wow. Relax, its normal to spread a little, albeit unflattering or uncomfy.
  • You think you are frustrated now?  Wait until you give birth ...

    This. Um.?

  • I'm sure she meant in a week, not in a day.
  • I'm not happy with mine either, but at a certain point you have to give yourself a break, especially here in the last few weeks. Exercise for your health and your LO's, but you can't push the same routine as pre-preganacy and expect to get the same results. The horomone balances as well as your body's priorities are completely different. There will be plenty of time after the birth to get back in shape.
  • Amen. I've felt the same way. Weight seems to go all over and I too work out pretty faithfully every day of the week. I will say though, that it feels like it goes in spurts. For awhile the weight seems to be all over, then my belly seems to pop out a little further and I seem to appear a little more 'balanced' all over. Hang in there! Our fitness routine will serve us well after the birth. Or at least, that is what I keep telling myself Wink
