On Tuesday Lilly had her appt. at Children's Hospital to have her eyes checked out. The doctor said she does not have anything wrong--it's pseudo-strabismus, meaning it just looks like her eye(s) turn in because the bridge of her nose is still flat. Once it develops it will pull the skin away from the corners of her eyes and we'll see more of the whites. Great news! And many of you called that one on here, so go you!
Oddly, he said she is near-sighted for her age and as she grows the near-sightedness will grow with her. She'll probably need glasses when she gets to Kindergarten. DH and I both have 20/20 vision, as do most of our family members (other than our parents, now that they're older, but just reading glasses). He told me she didn't need glasses right now, which made me chuckle! How cute would that be?!?! I've never seen a baby wearing glasses.
So, really it was a great appt. She was sooooo good! She never cried, even when the nurse put the drops in. It was a 2-hr appt. plus an hour drive each way so my mom and I were expecting some tears. Nope! And as for the glasses some day, eh, no big deal. She could have much worse problems!
Re: Pediatric Ophthamologist
When I checked out at the end of the visit, the receptionist looked at the paper, giggled and said "It says to see you back in 3-5 years. Why don't you just keep us in mind and give us a call around then?" So I guess unless we notice her having trouble, we don't have to go back for a while.
I'm so glad it went okay!
I know a little girl who's had to wear glasses since she was 12 months old...she is such a cutie with glasses. It always amazed me that she kept them on.
