play kitchen for a boy

DS loves pots and pans and watching me cook so I want to get him a kitchen set. But most of the kitchen sets look so girly. Any suggestions?

I have one by step 2. DS loves it. I don't think it's very girly- I don't get that anyway- it's a kitchen- men cook. Some of the best chefs in the world are cooks. The final 3 on master chef were men. Here is a picture of the one we have

Jack loves the kitchen at PBK, but its a big honking piece of equipment. What I do is leave one cabinet unlatched all the time, with play pots and pans and Tupperware. He knows that's "his" cabinet. Then there are the weekly play trips to PBK

Are you SERIOUS? This is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard. God forbid your son like to play with plastic dishes, fake food and open & close drawers and doors.

I don't think it's girly at all. And he loves it. Although DH and I find the singing/learning part of it a bit annoying. I guess it might be better when DS actually does what the woman is asking him to do ("Put an object in the pan") instead of just pressing the button over and over ("Put an ob...Put an ob...Put an ob...").

That's sad.

Playing sports and being "manly" and knowing how to cook (or clean for that matter,) are not mutually exclusive. Plus, I have read that children who have interest in cooking and are encouraged to learn about food and are comfortable in the kitchen have better eating habits and are less likely to be overweight or picky. Makes sense to me.

And, let's be honest, who doesn't love a man who can cook!

Oh, and Amazon.com has a few non pink plastic and wood. I actually looked recently, b/c we want to get one at some point for DS.
