I don't have this nailed down yet but I'm thinking I'll do 8 weeks. I still need to meet with HR to figure out the details, if I've read everything correctly i get 6 weeks with my full pay anything after that is a % but again I need to nail it all down. I'd love to do 12 weeks but I don't see that happening in the middle of winter when we'll need all the money we can make to pay for oil.
Right now I am planning on taking 24 weeks - 12 weeks paid & 12 weeks unpaid. My DH is working crazy overtime right now so we could afford to be a one salary household for 12 weeks. My job is guaranteed for 6 months after the birth of the LO, so I want to take advantage of the opportunity given even if it means that our financial situation might be a little hard.
My paid maternity is just my sick time. ?THANK GOD I have been saving them since I started, so I have 35 work days that I can take off, plus I can borrow another 20. ?I plan on taking only the 35 and am hoping to not have to take any time off BEFORE the baby comes.
I'll take between 8 and 10 weeks. As a teacher, in our district at least, you have to use your accrued sick days for your maternity leave. I'll only have about 6 weeks saved up, so I'll have to go unpaid for a few.
6 or 8 paid, depending on what the doctor writes. And then the remainder of 12 weeks unpaid (6 or 4). That should take me to two weeks before the end of the school year. I'll have to come back for a bit and then have the rest of the summer off again.

I plan on taking the full 12 (via FMLA). 6 or 8 will be paid at 100% (depends if it is vag or c-section) and the rest unpaid. DH and I are saving from now till then to have enough to replace my salary during the unpaid time. ALthough we have been having tons of layoffs...so if I get RIF'd, I may be able to be staying home longer....
16 wks. 6 are pd, some vacation and sick and then the rest unpaid. It is so worth it to at least take your 12 wks of FMLA (even if all unpaid). Your little one is really going to need you (and you him/her).
12 weeks. It's all unpaid, but we're going to make it work. I'm saving up my vacation time, and I'll have close to 4 weeks saved, so i guess it's 8 weeks completely unpaid. The good thing is, I plan on going back full time so they will pay my insurance benefits in full the entire time I'm off.
I plan on taking 5 months and using disability as well as vacation/sick time. One of the perks of being a government employee is they love to give you time off and I have been smart and saving mine.
Re: If you're going back to work after LO...
between 6-8. I haven't decided yet.
edit: and i might see if they'll let me do some work from home.

I can take 12 weeks but I will only have 6 weeks paid by the time the baby comes.
If we can financially swing it I will take 8 weeks, if not, 6 weeks.
I will be taking 10 off for sure, 12 if my boss will ok it.
I'll be off Christmas-early June.
