I have never made them before, but I want to try a recipe that is served over grits. Can I get the instant ones, or are the others better? How do you season them? How do you keep them moist? It's a shrimp recipe I am making. TIA!
all my family is from up north and appaerantly im just unsouthern for eating them this way lol i tried them before with salt and pepper but I couldnt do it. I'm the only southerner in my family though. My dad is from california and my moms family is fom ohio they all just moved here.
Keeping them moist is not really an issue. Have you ever made polenta? It's very similar, grits are just a bit coarser. I've never had instant grits. Season with butter, salt, pepper, even by cooking with broth since you want them for dinner. Or cheese... mmm... cheese grits, yum! Maybe toss in a bit of whatever you're putting on the shrimp maybe.
Re: Tell me about Grits
Are you making the typical New Orleans barbecue shrimp & grits?
Its just sauted in some butter with mushrooms and green oinions.
My grandmother does that, I'm more of a butter and pepper gal!
