Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Do you still use onsies?

I am still using onsies everyday but someone posted something yesterday and it made it sound like a lot of people don't anymore...do you still use onsies on your LO? If so when do you plan on stopping?

Re: Do you still use onsies?

  • yes.  we will stop when they don't come in his size or once we begin potty training... whichever comes first.

  • We have maybe 3-4. I only use them when there is nothing else clean. It's so much easier to not have to worry about snapping them with a wiggling toddler.

  • I don't remember the last time I used a onesie...I think it was when the weather was kinda cool.  There's just no need for them down here...it's too hot and it's easier to just take off her shorts for the diaper change

  • I like them fine, but don't really buy them anymore.  If something cute comes as a onesie, I'll still buy it.
  • used them through the winter then stopped because he gets so warm.  won't be using them any more

  • i stopped using them a while ago but MIL keeps buying them. so they're in her drawer, but i never reach for them first.
  • I haven't been using them this summer (well, she has a few shirts that are "onesies") because it is too hot for layers. I'll probably use them again when the weather is cooler as a layering piece.
  • Occasionally.  I love to put him in the little Carter's rompers though but we just have 3 of those.  Most of the time he (when we are home), he just runs around in a shirt and his diaper.  I put shorts on him when we go somewhere.
  • Not much. I may in the winter because they are so good for layering. I like the look of a separate top and bottom though. Plus, DD is so long that she always outgrew onesies so fast.

  • Rarely. And if we do, it's just for her to sleep in.

  • We do for his jammies during the summer and if we go on a long car ride I figure he's cooler in that then a shirt and shorts. Sometimes if we are just hanging around the house for the day I'll stick him in one.
  • We have a bunch since people keep buying them for her but she hasn't worn one since winter.  She gets so hot that having it so close to her skin makes her a mess.  She is usually in a dress or just a diaper.  Maybe once it gets cold again but for now no.
  • I don't right now because it's too hot out. I might continue in the fall and winter.
  • I love them and I love that I found long-sleave onsies in 24 months that way I know he'll be wearing them at least through the winter.

ETA: I use them as under shirts when it's cool out and this summer I've used them in place of another shirt

  • She has 2 pink onesies from Gap that I use because they go with shorts.  But I haven't and don't plan on purchasing any more in any larger sizes.  They're more of a pain now than anything.

    This exactly.

  • She has a ton of short sleeved and long sleeved onesies that she wears all of the time. She can get her shorts and pants off, so I tend to keep her in a onesie so that she doesn't attack her diaper next.
  • Yes, we do, and we will until he starts potty training.
  • yes, I use them when he's at home.

  • We do. I put them on her at night under her pj's. Our house gets very cold, and I want to keep her warm. I need to get her some in bigger sizes, and long sleeved ones for the winter soon. Its cold here in MI.

  • DD wears one most days.  I figure we still stop once she is potty trained so its easier for her to get to the potty on her own.

  • I haven't put her in them over the summer.  At first I did, but then I just it was too hot to put her in a onesie too.  I think I will start again when it gets cooler.

  • Anna is only 10 months, but, yes, we still use them and will continue using them until they no longer make them in her size.  They're super convenient and very comfortable for her.
  • Sometimes she'll sleep in one, and hang out in the house with just a onesie on. Generally she doesn't. She has a few skirts that have a matching onsesie from Target. I plan on using them in the winter though.
  • We use them around the house, but I dont button them.

  • We haven't used them in months.  As PP said, it is just too much of a pain with a wiggling toddler at diaper time.

I might rethink it in the "cold" NC winters ;-)
