Infant CPR/First aid

This is one of the things we always meant to do when I was still pregnant but never did.   Now that the little one will be starting solids in a few weeks, I've remotivated myself to take a class as I'm paranoid about choking.  Can you recommend yours?  I'm not interested in getting certified - just want to know enough to help my kid should the need arise.  I would prefer someplace in Bethesda/Rockville or near the beltway.  Thanks!

  • Red Cross offers courses through the Capital Area Chapter (Montgomery County has a location) or you can take it online. Here is the link for online

I am not sure if there are courses out there that do not certify you. Usually you can take both courses in a few hour block of time.

  • You can check with your hospital, too. Holy Cross offers Infant (and other level) CPR classes at their resource center, and it's right off the beltway. They also have them at Great Beginnings in Gaithersburg. We're taking one next weekend.

  • We took one at Reston Hospital - you don't get certified..it's mostly all the basics. Check into your local hospitals most of them offer the classes. I think ours was $25.
