I went to the dentist today for my checkup, turns out I need to have a bunch of work done that my insurance only partially covers and they found a lesion in my mouth that could be oral cancer so I also need to see someone for that.
Oral cancer WTF I am trying to grasp that one because:
Also ummmm yeah I don't have the $2,000 for the work I need done.
What a sh!tty day ![]()
Re: I think I am going to cry
((HUGS))
Do they offer a payment plan option? I know a lot of dentists do because not many people have full dental coverage.
omg!! I hope you are going to get that checked out soon. Are you making an appt?
Hang in there. Going to the dentist to me is like.. serious mortification. I can't stand it.
I asked about it the only thing they accept is $100 every two weeks, Dh and I can do that but it will make paying off our credit card and saving very difficult.
OMG, you poor thing. I will say a prayer for you!

I have to go back to my dentist next week for a followup test to see if they saw what they did today, if they do I will get a referrel to medical Dr who treats this kind of stuff.

I am so sorry
I'm so sorry! I'd cry too
Here's hoping it turns out to be "nothing". . .
How scary! When I was pregnant I had a white bump in my mouth (on my gum) that I ws really worried was oral cancer. When I went to the dentist to have it checked out, they told me it was perindontal (sp?) cyst. It is a non-cancerous cyst that had grown in my gum. I had the cyst drained and the dentist told me it would most likely resolve itself. After DS was born, he said that if it was still there I would have to go to a specialist to have it removed. Thankfully it did resolve itself. I just wanted to share to give you hope that it might be something else. GL and I hope it is nothing.
P.S. I have had EXTENSIVE dental work done and was making payments for a long time. It has helped me because I don't get the migraines that I used to get before I got the work done.
((hugs))
I'm so sorry about the lesion and I really hope it isn't anything serious
Maybe they could do a partial payment plan or something? GL
I really hope the lesion is nothing bad! I'll be praying for good results!
I am so sorry. Here is what you do...get the work done, pay what you can, when you can. Another option...if you have a medical school nearby with a school of dentistry, they always have a clinic and do things for a reduced cost (not sure if they also take insurance). Dental students being supervised by dentists.
As for the lesion...until you know, try not to freak out about it. I know it is easier said than done. Once you know something, then you deal with it.
Sending you tons of hugs and prayers
Oh, no!
You said "could" be right? So, i'll be positive for you and say it'll come back fine. I really hope that's the case. GL.
oh goodness. i hope it's just a false alarm but i can't even imagine how scared you must be.
((((hugs))))
OMG, I'm so sorry... I will say a prayer for you!
I'm sorry--I know that must be scary! I'm sure they are just being cautious.
I know what you mean about the $$$. DH has dental issues and we've spent a small fortune on his teeth in the four years we've been married.
oh NO! when will you see someone about the lesion? please go straight away. how scary!
