What's the deal with BabySteals?

I absolutely love BabySteals (although they're slowly bankrupting me) but I don't get how they operate. I looked at the site but it doesn't explain how they can afford to sell items at 50-80% off. Are they a large organization or a small mom&pop business? Anyone know?

    I think they have products donated or sold to them at a very low price. Maybe??

    Curious to see if anyone knows the real story :)

    LOL...I guess no one knows! Maybe that's the magic of the site. :) I Googled and found a few business articles about the founder, but nothing that comes out and says HOW they do it. I can only assume some kind of partnership, but it blows my mind that they can sell an item so cheaply. However they do it, it's awesome.

    i think it's like mamabargains.com, which basically operates by buying quantities of items from the manufacturer at a steep discount and then reselling them.  since there is no brick-and-mortar store, there is very little overhead...and since it provides such a huge outlet for the merchandise (ie. opportunities for product recommendations and increased hype, plus it's kinda like free advertising) they are able to get the product for a much better deal than a regular retailer.

    just like woot or schnoop, they buy closeouts and factory clearances... I love that sort of site!
