Did anyone drive themselves to the hospital?

During labor?  Sorry, I've been hanging out on the tri boards, and the things they are talking about make me wonder...

I would NEVER have tried to drive myself and we live less than 5 minutes from the hospital.

    In both of the birth classes I took, they explicitly told people NOT to do that.

    Oh geez, I can't imagine driving myself to the hospital - I'd probably get into an accident while having contractions!

    nope, but I probably don't count as I didn't go into labor on my own

    I guess could have since I was not in labor (my water broke) but I would have been really jittery.  The ride was 20 minutes and I spent the whole drive wondering how I was about to have a baby and how scary that seemed.

    No... we lived about 40 minutes from the hospital, and never would have considered it... the plan was calling my mom or a taxi if necessary. Fortunately, DH was home and drove me :-).

    Ditto.  I wasn't in pain, but I was so panicky I probably wouldn't have been able to focus at all.

    I did ... but I wasn't in labor, so I guess that doesn't count. I THOUGHT I was just going for a BPP and ended up driving myself across the street to the hospital for a c/s.  DH arrived about 30 minutes after me because I hadn't even packed a hospital bag.

    I drove myself half way there. I had a few contraction before heading to work that day and thought nothing of it, but when I kept gettingthem i the car I calle dmy doc then called MH and figured when my office is on the way to the hospital so I kept driving the rest of the way. 20min drive with 3-5min apart contractions. probably not the best idea....

    Yes.(DH drove me for DS- scheduled c/s) With DD, my ex-H was pissed that I woke him up at 4am (after I having 4hrs of intense contrax) to go to the hospital. luckily the hospital was close. And I had no one else close enough to take me.

    ETA: ex-H was in the car w/me though.
