Baby Names

Same letters for first and last name?

Is that too much? There is a name I really like but it has the same first 2 letters as our last name. WDYT? FI also likes this name.

Re: Same letters for first and last name?

  • If you like the name than use it. Personally I really like the way names that start with the same letter sounds with my last name.  I don't know if we'll end up picking one but I wouldn't throw a name out just because of that.

  • I like some alliteration, some I don't. Depends on the letters and the names.

I agree.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.  We've pretty much ruled it out because all the names sound to sing-songy with our last name.

Eh...I think that's kind of a mouthful since it's Tr, Tr. ?I don't think a T name is bad (Thomas Tripp, for example) but there's a little too much alliteration in Truman Tripp for my taste.?

  • mlf- I thought it was a bit much as well. I am still not sure, as I am now thinking how often would people say the last name? It is a name FI likes, and he does NOT like very many names...

hmm... it kind of sounds like a character from a children's book or something.  I agree that it's too much alliteration.

This exactly. You can't even say Truman Tripp outloud without getting tripped (no pun intended) up. Definitely no.

  • I think its a little much because Tr is a very strong sounding combination. Other T names would work but I wouldnt go with a Tr
  • I see no problem with it, unless the initals end up being something like KKK or BOOB

I agree. Trevor Tripp sounds odd, but Theodore Tripp sounds fine.?

  • Ditto to the other girls- the Tr sound is too heavy...
