I love Bella more than Isabella but figured her birth certificate will say Isabella and i would just call her Bella. The thing is...do you think i should just give her the formal name Bella instead? Or should it just be short for something?
I may not be the majority, but I always prefer to name the child what it will be called. If you are going to call her Bella, I would go ahead and name her that, especially if you won't use Isabella.
I immediately think Twilight and it's NMS, but I do know someone who named her daughter just Bella. And if that is what you really want, I think it makes sense for it to be the full name.
I know i do hate that this name might be compared to that but when she is a teenager i think the rage of Twilight will be over. I really love that name before that book and after. Does stinks though that it got worn out but the movie/books. i like the back up name of Isabella but i probably will only call her Bella.
I'm normally not pro-nicknames as names, but I think Bella is formal enough to carry as a first name. (I'm more concerned about people naming their kids Bob or Em.) If you simply like Bella more than Isabella, I think it's fine to use that as a first name.

agree with this. I have known little girls that want to be called by their full names around 6 or 7. If you don't really like Isabella, image a time when your DD insists on being called Isabella and corrects you every time you call her Bella. Use the name you love on the BC.
Bella reminds me of a dog that my IL's dog sit. It doesn't sound like an adults name. I can see it as a cute nn for a little girl. Go with a more formal name like Isabella.?

Re: One more question about the name Bella
Ditto this. i think Bella would look silly on a resume. Bella is a little girls name. A cute one, but cute on a little girl. Not on an adult.

I agree 100%
My gf's daughter is Bella....just Bella
My name's Kate. Just Kate. I've spent a lifetime with people asking me if it's short for Katherine. No big deal.
A Bella will probably get asked if it's short for Isabella or anything else but that's not a big deal.
I agree with pp that it's names like Bob that feel strange to me as a full name.
