Restless Leg Syndrome

Help me out- I'm not sure if this is what I'm experiencing or not!  Just within the last two weeks I've started experiencing a weird sensation in my upper right thigh/hip area.  I'm not at all experiencing a desire or need to move my leg- What I'm having is a tingling very similar to the "pins and needles" felt when you're foot falls asleep.  Some of the info I found online regarding RLS talks about a "tingling" sensation.  Does this sound like RLS to anyone else experiencing it?  Thanks!

Re: Restless Leg Syndrome

  • It might be, but it's not the type of symptom I experience.  I usually feel really twitchy.

  • Sounds like sciatica.   My RLS was in my calves and I could NOT keep my legs still at all.
  • Hmmmm....sounds a little too localized to be RLS, although everyone is different.

My RLS happens throughout both legs, and is more of a creepy-crawly feeling than a tingling.  And I DEFINITELY have to move them or I go competely insane.

  • I've had RLS off and on for years but it's recently only been on while I've been pregnant. I've never experienced what you're talking about but like the pp said - it's different for everyone. With me it's much more of a creepy crawly sensation that I can't really put my finger on (almost like it's more in my mind then actually in my legs) and I just feel the urge to move my legs.

  • Doesnt sound like RLS...more like a pinched nerve. Its probably sciatica.
  • Hm- It's not sciatica.  That's a pain I can definitely put my finger on.  I guess I'm just a freak... lol!
  • No, I feel this annoying and nagging feeling to move/stretch my legs that persists for different amounts of time each time...usually at night while I am in bed watching tv. What's more annoying is that sometimes when I am stretching my legs out to get rid of the feeling, I get an awful calf cramp. So, I try to just ignore it. My DH will sometimes massage my legs and that helps alleviate the RLS.

Happens to me too - just remember to NEVER point your toes while stretching - that's when the cramps happen.  Flex!  :)
