3rd Trimester

Induction...

My doctor keeps telling me to be patient because I'm going to go past my due date... but he hasn't mentioned how long he'll let me go before inducing me (definitely my first question at next weeks appt) but I'm curious when your doc starting talking about it if you are past your due date.

Re: Induction...

  • I just asked mine, she didn't bring it up. She said she won't let me go 2 weeks past. So they'll probably to a week to a week and a half.

  • Last week at my 39 week appntmnt my doc said he would only let me go 1 week overdue.

Basically coz i have had no real signs of early labor and am only slightly dilated.

  • i think most Dr's will let you go up to 2 weeks past your EDD.  i would try and stick it out though.  sometimes inductions can be long and painful...mine was.  next time, i'm totally gonna go to the bitter end :-)

a few months ago i would have agreed with you, right now 2 weeks seems like an eternity! trying to wrap my head around 3 or 4 weeks and its just a bummer

OMG!  i totally know how you feel!  i cried every day for the last 2 weeks.  i ended up going 3 days past my EDD and was induced.  i wish i would have let myself go naturally though.  i was in labor for 19 hours and pushed for 3 1/2.  i wouldn't change a thing about how DD got here, but next time i'll go natural.  it was long and much worse due to the pitocin.

hang in there girl!  2 weeks seems like forever, but looking back on it now, it was such a short amount of time.  your body will go when ready.

yeah, I am 38 weeks today and I am trying to resign myself to being pregnant for another 4 weeks, since I have made zero progress and the baby has not dropped.

My Ob basically said that it will all depend on my BP and the baby's health. ?If both of those are fine, I can go indefinitely. She won't give an end date.?

  • I asked my doc a few weeks ago, and she said as long as my health and my daughters health was good she would let me go 7 days past my due date. However, 7 days past my due date is labor day...LOL So I bet she either lets me wait or induces me sooner....that is if it is necessary.

  • My Dr.induces at 41 weeks unless there is a reason to do so sooner.
