Anyone else have this random symptom?

Whenever I shave my legs, I get these itchy, red bumps around my hair follicles.  They get so itchy that I have a hard time not scratching them, and that just makes them worse.  They look and feel like little bug bites, but I think they are irritated/slightly infected follicles.  Anyone else have this?  I think I am going to have to stop shaving my legs!  I've tried different razors, but nothing works.  I use plenty of lotion, but they still itch like crazy.  Yet, it's only my lower legs, not itchy anywhere else!  So weird...Help!

Re: Anyone else have this random symptom?

  • I've been getting the same thing in my bikini zone.  I was also wondering if it was pregnancy-related.

  • Sounds like irritation, or razor burn.

I know some people's skin gets a lot more sensitive during pregnancy (i sunburn a lot more easily).  Perhaps it is just irritation from more sensitive skin?

omg that happens to me too!
  • my skin itches even if I only take a shower and don't shave that day :( it happened when I was pregnant last time too
  • It sounds like something that used to happen to me all the time. My dermatologist recomended that I use a new disposable razor every time I shaved to eliminate any bacteria infection with all the itching and scratching. Good luck... I hope this goes away soon for you!

  • Moisturize before and after shaving. I had this prob in 1st tri. It was maddening! Baby powder on the vag after shaving helps too.
  • My skin, eyes, everything gets so dry when I'm pregnant. I can see how that could cause what you're talking about.
  • I haven't had that issue, but the skin on my forearms has become incredibly sensitive. If I'm walking around alot and my arms brush against my shirt or something they become red and sore. Weird!

  • BE CAREFUL! My sister had that issue, and it kept getting worse...til she was hospitalized - turns out she had MRSA (very deadly staph infection). Def change your razor every shave if you are that sensitive right now! My legs have been like that, but I only wear long pants, so I am only shaving when necessary.
