Success after IF

Newbie

Hi,

I am 10 weeks pregnant after 4 years of IF.   I am on a March due date board, but many of those on that board are accidentally pregnant, didn't mean to get pregnant, tried one time and got pregnant, etc.  Hard to relate.  Hoping I could join all of you.

We had many IUI's because I ovulated normally and there was no reason for me not to be able to conceive.  We finally moved onto IVF and didn't have a single egg fertilize.  Dx: hard, thick shelled eggs which sperm cannot penetrate.  We took a year off due to work obligations, a death in the family and frankly, I wasn't sure I could move onto IVF + ICSI, knowing if it didn't work our only options would be donor eggs or adoption.  I wasn't ready for either.  I finally made the leap and started the cycle this past spring.  7 eggs, 6 mature, 5 fertilized, 2 implanted, 2 stuck!  No problem with implantation, we just needed to get those spermies in there to do their job on my eggs.  No frozen embies, but that's okay with our two stickies.

Would love to be able to chat with you all.  I think pregnancy is a tad different after IF.  Thanks.

Re: Newbie

  • Glad you found us!  Welcome.  I don't remember you on TTTC, were you on that board?

  • Thanks!  No, I wasn't.  I was on Fertility Friend for awhile, then on a Buddy Board with a group who left FF.  But after awhile there were only 3 of us left who hadn't conceived.  One adopted and left and we all slowly lost touch.  I haven't been on any boards until I got my BFP and this is the first Success after IF board I've found.

    Thanks for the welcome.

  • congratulations and welcome! thanks for sharing your story!

I think pregnancy is WAY different after IF!

  • What a nice intro - sorry your story is so sucky, though ;-)

It's a quiet board usually after bedtime, usually a raunchy poll by Skims, me and Christa yappin about something... that's about it. But welcome!

Although I don't have the same story you do, it is quite a different story when you go thru hell to get to where you're going... hope you have an easy ride! ;-)

Jump on in, and here... have a pickle ;-)

  • Welcome to the board! I'm relatively new too, and it's awkward on the "1st Trimester" board for me too b/c of exactly what you say. Questions like "is m/s normal?" and "I'm on BCP and may be PG" are just questions I can't relate to.

  • Thanks all for the warm welcomes.  Yes, "I'm on BCP and may be PG" is just so not relatable!  We're close in our pregnancies!  Good luck to you in the 1st trimester -- my cautiously optimistic is turning to more and more just optimistic at 11 weeks.  I hope yours does, too.
