DH and I went on our hospital tour this weekend. Why is it that the woman who has not given birth gives the most advice. There were many eye rolls among the 15 couples. I don't care what your first meal is going to be.
The same thing with birth class. I sat next to a guy who let everyone know about his wife having a c-section and how they were doing it. He even tried to give me advice on bottles when I asked the instructor a question. So I offered up "Are you breastfeeding as well"? I rescheduled a class so he would not be there.
Vent over...
Re: Hospital tour and birth class
When we did our hospital tour, we were the only parents who intended on having a natural childbirth - no epidural, IV, etc - and there were a lot of eye rolls in our general direction when we asked about alternative options (birthing balls, showers, tubs, etc).
Based on that, we opted to skip the classes at the hospital except for breast feeding.

My personal favorite is when people who dont have kids give me parenting advice. Riiiiight, cause I'm going to listen to you. haha
Are you delivering at Hoag? We had a pretty good experience with our classes there. But maybe it's just because my other "classmates" weren't idiots. lol
Uggh that is what happened with my first daughter. I know you already took the class, but I totally recommend Sheri Bayles 3 part DVD. She's a little annoying, but the info is great and I had fun watching it with my hubby. I would bounce on my ball and he'd give me a back massage. We both started quizzing eachother by the third section.
ha ha ha! with us, it wasn't the other students, it was the instructor. We escaped from the birthing class during the lunch break. he he he! The instructor kept trying to show DH how to massage me and comfort during labor and it jsut wasn't natural to us so it was annoying.
