DD has very sensitive skin and has had quite a few skin issues thus far including eczema. For the past two months (maybe longer) she's had a bright red rash at the base of her neck and at times when it's really bright red/raw, it irritates her and she scratches at it. I've always attributed it to drooling as did the pedi because it looks very different from the eczema patches that she gets from time to time on different parts of her body.Because we were talking about a lot of different skin issues, I'm not sure that the doctor recommended anything for this type of rash (or maybe I can't remember!)
She has no teeth (they HAVE to be coming soon...drooling lately is outta control!) and I've been trying my very best to keep her dry. My question is...should I be putting something on it? Or is it best to leave it alone, keeping it dry as best as I can?
I have used aquaphor and sometimes I feel like it helps because it doesn't appear as red but other times it seems like it makes it worse. I ended up giving her benedryl tonight because today was an itchy, irritated kinda day. I've also been keeping her shirtless here and there to allow air to get to it but it's such a tough spot, and the constant drool makes it so tricky.
Please give me some tips on what you think I should do because I feel so bad for her and it looks awful! Thanks so much!!
