What temp do you keep your house?

I'm reading in this pedi book that for infants you should keep temp between 68-72 degrees in your home.  Sounds cold, and being that I live deep within the bowels of hotter than hell Texas makes me have a slight heart attack thinking about what my electric bill would be!

  • I run hot like a fire and DD does too (except her hands and feet get cold often just like DH.) We dont have central air but have wall units...we set the one in the bedroom to 69.

  • Where in tx are you?

I set it to 79 during the day and around 76 in the evening/at night. We run fans in both bedrooms for naps and bedtimes. and my last electric bill was horrible!

  • We usually keep it at 75-78.
  • Our downstairs AC is at 70 and our upstairs AC is at 68.  It seems cold but when DS wakes up in the morning half the time he is sweaty, so I'm not worried.
  • We keep it at 68 when my husband is in charge of it. When I am, it stays at 72.
  • we keep ours at 75 degrees.
  • we keep it at 70 most times. the past few days have been hella hot so it has gone down to 67-68
  • I live in Leander, my last electric bill was $269, I had a slight stroke when I saw that, our pedi recommended keeping all the blinds open and making it really bright during the day to get him sleeping better at night, has definitely helped him sleep at night, hasn't helped the wallet though.

When I was pregnant I couldn't get it cold enough, I think I had it down to 67 and slept in the nude and still woke up sweating, now I am freezing my butt off at 75 degrees, I still turn it down to 72 at night and sleep with 2 blankets on me.

  • I'd be freezing if it was 68-72! FI tries to turn it to 73 but I always go behind him and put in on 75. Our electric bill is out of control as it is.
  • If it was up to my DH it would be 70 but I won't show him how to program the thermostat (he doesn't read manuals, which is good for me) so I keep it at 76-78 at night with fans going and 80 during the day with the fans going.  Our electric bill is high enough with the in-ground pool (which we use a lot during the days to keep cool!!)
  • We keep the downstairs at 78 during the day and 72 starting about an hour before we come home. The upstairs stays at 78 unless we plan on going up there (only the game room, extra room, and extra bathroom are up there). We always use ceiling fans a lot in our house.
