Babies: 9 - 12 Months

crawling + tiles = paranoid me!!

anyone else have any suggestions for what we should be doing? (other than the safety helmet idea from my hubby....) i try to let ds crawl on the bed or the area rug we have for his play area but i know he gets bored doing laps and my a$$ gets a bit broken sliding after him on the floor all the time! i dont want carpet etc b/c tiles have been so easy for all the baby clean up situations that we have had so far....thanks.

Re: crawling + tiles = paranoid me!!

  • ugh, we are going to be here in a few weeks once she gets the hang of crawling. our entire house is spanish tile. :(

I'm thinking of laying rugs down (more than we already have). ikea has a few cheap ones.

we currently have 1 rug and 1 set of foam squares in the living room and 1 rug in her nursery.

  • Most of our main floor is tile and DS has never had an issue crawling on it and never hurt himself. ?I never even thought to be concerned about it. ?I'd be more worried about letting a baby crawl on a bed than on tile (fall from a bed = higher chance of injury than crawling on tile).

  • a helmet for crawling??
  • D mainly crawls on hardwood floors and tile without incident.  Like a previous poster said, I'd be way more worried about letting him crawl on the bed.  Some bumps and bruises are normal and part of learning to crawl - and in a couple weeks, your little guy will have the hang of it and rarely have crawling issues.
  • Just let him crawl on them?  Yes, he'll slide a little bit at first, but that's how he'll learn how to manage the new surface!
