Pregnant after 35

Presidential Welcome...

I found some cool info that I wanted to pass along.  Did you all know that you could request a welcome letter for your new baby from the president?  I think this would make a great baby keepsake or baby scrapbook memento.  I don't know if it is "legal" to post website links here, but I just put in a search for "baby welcome from president" and the instructions popped up.  Basically, just send baby info, address and your info (the website link has instructions) and you will receive a welcome card in the mail with a personalized note.  I haven't done it yet, but it sure sounds like a cool idea!  Has anyone else heard of this?

Re: Presidential Welcome...

  • I don't see why you wouldn't be allowed to post the link. I am going to check it out.

**edit** I got this off of eHow.....

    Step 1

You have three options for sending your request. The first is the fax, the number is 202-395-1232. The second is the snail mail or postal mail:
    The White House
    Attn: Greetings Office
    Washington, D.C. 20502-0039

The third is web mail or email at White House Web Mail.

    Step 2

The information you need to include is the name and home address of baby, the baby's date of birth, your name and phone number and your full address. Put all this information on a piece of paper and include a self addressed, stamped envelope (if you are requesting by postal mail).

    Step 3

Sit back and wait! You will receive your welcome card in a few week, complete with a personalized note, the president's seal, and the president and spouse's signatures.

  •  Yes That is so awesome!! I have to make sure to do that.

  • FYI... there's a whole department at the White House that does just this kind of thing... baby births, weddings, special anniversaries, etc.   I think it's been around for decades.

If I remember correctly from our wedding, you do have to wait until "after" the event to send in your request.. just in case the event doesn't happen!

  • We did this for both our wedding and for the birth of our DD.  It used to be called the White House Scheduling Office, but curent White House is run a bit differently.

If you are interested, you can also send a similar request to the Vice President as well.

  • Couldn't you also receive a blessing from Pope for your wedding? I wonder if you can that  for a LO.
