I'm confused - wouldn't they have to climb UP to the roof? If that's the case, regardless of there being other kids around, I don't think I would let him up there in the first place. he could fall off.

I just wanted to say: that not only would I not allow it because it wouldn't be very safe, but also because it is disrespectful and not the right way to play with the object in question.
No, not really the safety issue of falling off as much as it was not built to hold kids on the roof & she could dent/break it & fall in on another kid & hurt them--and it's not her house to be abusing like that...basically along the lines of what Butterbeansmama said.

No but I do let my 8 y/o climb on the top of ours. It is very sturdy and I really see no harm in it. My 5 y/o doesn't seem interested in climbing it and I'm glad because she's a bit clumsy.
Thanks. I told a mom in my playgroup that her son was standing on the top of one and she acted like it was no big deal. At one point he jumped from one house roof to another house roof (about 2 feet apart). He was also hanging off the roof and pretending to be a monster and growling at the other kids. I know this kid is pretty destructive historically, but the mom seemed to encourage the behavior and it really started to irritate me. At least my daughter seemed to understand that it was wrong and move away from him.

this
Joey and Cam climb around on the roof of theirs --- in their backyard (or at the beach house).
NOT on a playground. I wouldn't allow that b/c of the other kids.
