Success TTC after 10 months?

Has anyone had success TTC after 9-10 months without meds? I'm starting to feel like if I've been trying this long w/no success, I should probably see a doctor. I've only charted the past 3 months but we've been at it nearly daily during the middle two weeks of my cycle all 10!

  • I did. It took me 9 months from the time my last Depo shot ran out to get pregnant. No charting or nothing. If you stop worrying about it, it will come.

  • It took us 7 months and my doctor repeatedly reminded me (annoyed me then :) ) that it could easily take up to a year and us both still be healthy and fertile because I started to get very discouraged.  I know how hard it is to wait but the odds are still great that everything is fine and you'll have a little one on the way in no time!  Hugs!

That's actually not how it works.  At all.

  • My DH and I tried for over 14 months to get pregnant without going on any kind of meds. ?I was on birth control before TTC so that may be why it took us longer. ?We actually got pregnant when we had finally decided it just wasn't going to happen for us right now and that we had other things in our life that required our focus. ?Once we forgot about it, we got pregnant.
  • it took me 11 months!
  • this baby was month 10, though I did have one cp in there too
  • I am a lurker, but felt compelled to respond to this post.  My husband and I tried for 13 cycles to get pregnant.  We saw a RE and we were told we needed to go right to in vitro.  I have an elevated FSH and MFI was also playing a role in our troubles.  Our RE gave us a high success rate, 40% with ICSI, so I was pretty excited.  I stopped charting the last cycle before I was to start hormones.  Well, we ended up getting lucky and got pregnant on our own.  A Hail Mary pass at the end of the 4th quarter.  Do I believe we were more "relaxed" and that is why I got pregant?  Not really, I was very anxious about starting hormones and if it would even work.  I would recommend that you don't drive yourself crazy...I know it is hard.  I dicussed my worries with my gyn and was able to start some testing without going to the RE.  If you go that route, make sure you do your homework as a regular gyn doesn't know that much about CD3 blood work, etc.  Anyway I am sorry this long winded, I hope it gives you some hope.  Sometimes it just takes a little longer.   Also, try B complex vitamins and Royal Jelly pills, I don't know if that helped, but I was taking them and now I am pregnant.  Good luck.

Really?  Is that how it works?  Here I thought not ovulating was my problem, good thing to know it was just b/c I was worrying too much.

  • It took me two years of trying to seek help...it took an additional year from there.  Good luck

  • took us 2 years.  After a year we went to an RE and found out I have a blocked tube.  Did 2 medicated cycles.  1 cycle failed and the other cycle was a failed IUI.  I hated myself on the drugs and decided it wasn't for me.

  • Thanks for all the responses. I'm going to try to hang in there a few more months but I guess it wouldn't hurt to see my OBGYN at the 1-year mark.
  • A normal healthy couple under 30 years old can take up to 1 year to conceive, and it's perfectly normal! Each cycle you only have a 10% chance of conceiving, so take it easy on yourself!

Making as much sense here as you did on GP I see.

All those IF girls should simply stop worrying? Damn! Someone better tell them asap.

seriously, this would have saved me $12 grand in cost to do IUI and IVF.  Silly me.

On a side note to the original post, REs will see you if you are under 35 typically after 1 year, and over 35 after 6 months.  I say this "typically" because if you have something preiexisting about your reproduction system that you know about (which I assume you don't have that) you may be sent there sooner.  If you don't conceive by 12 months, it can't hurt to talk to your OB - at least then you have information on which path you would like to take, continue on the natural path or move towards tests and treatments.

  • It took us 15 cycles to get pregnant.  We did Clomid for 5 cycles and even tried IUI.  None of that worked, I got pregnant as I was waiting for an appointment with an RE.  We just got lucky, it had nothing to do with relaxation. I know I am now going to be that "friend of a friend" who just stopped trying and got pregnant.  I am sure it looks like that from the outside, but I am going to tell you that once you reach a certain point, there is not a day that passes by that you do not know what day of your cycle you are on.  There was no relaxation involved.  Keep charting and at a year go see an RE.  Don't waste your time on an ob/gyn.

  • It took us 14 cycles, but 12 months.  Not worrying had absolutely nothing to do with it.  For us, the issue was timing.  For others who have very real infertility issues, not worrying is not going to cut it.

That being said, up to a year is normal.  Don't worry that it hasn't happened yet unless you have some evidence, like abnormally long cycles or anovulatory charts, that show there's an issue.
