We have been undecided on a name for our baby girl and whenever anyone asks we tell them we don't have one yet (which is the truth). The end is getting very close now, and although we plan to wait until we see her to make a final decision I want to be prepared.
Here's a little background on us. Our favorite girl name has been Isabel for over 5 years now, but with the rising popularity of Isabella we decided to forego it as a first name. We are fine with using it as a middle name though. We really liked the name Kennedy for the majority of my pregnancy, but we (mainly me) just couldn't make a final decision on it. Then the name Layla (or Laila, nor sure of spelling) came to me, and now we are really loving that too. I have a few different options for middle names. Last name is one syllable that starts with a J and is similar to Jones. So what do you think about these name combos? Or feel free to add to the list. Which is your most/least favorite and why (if you want to add your reason). TIA ladies!
Re: Narrowed down our list, need opinions PLEASE.
i like kennedy claire.
and fwiw i don't really see how you can honor kathleen by using kate. if you want a middle name for your mom then use kathleen.
I know what you mean. It would not really be honoring my Mom, but Kathleen is too long and I like Kate. DH doesn't really care for it though so it's not really at the top of our list anyways.
I love Isabel and think, if you both still love it, why not make it your fn choice? Layla is gaining in popularity or trendiness and could become too popular for your taste in a few years. But who knows?
Of the listed options I like Kennedy Kate or Kennedy Isabel. GL!
this. but of the ones you listed i like layla isabel the best i think. i'm not personally a fan of kennedy.
Kennedy Claire is my favorite...
But if Isabel is the name that you've both loved from the beginning, you should go with it, regardless of popularity. My mom thought she was picking a really unique name when she named me...yea, my name is Amanda. See how well that turned out? Just go with what you love. I think Isabel Kate or Isabel Claire would be really pretty.
Mine too!
I 2nd your DH's vote with Layla Isabel, spelled Layla not Laila
From your list, I like Layla Isabel - very pretty.
But I really think that you should use Isabel for the first name - you've liked it for 5 years and it is a lovely name, and I don't think it's very popular - it's a classic.
Ditto both these ladies!
Use what you love.

This, or Isabel Claire.
Since you both loved Isabel so much, I would keep it for the middle name. That being said, Layla Isabel sounds best.
Good luck!
I really like Kennedy, but knowing your last name, I sort of feel like it doesn't work as well.... but do like the sound of Kennedy Kate.
I like Layla, not as much as Kennedy, but I think it fits better with your last name. If I were to go with Layla, I do like it with Isabel!
So thinking about it while I type, I actually like Kennedy Kate J the best.... it sounds very classic and strong, a Katherine Hepburn name *always my name barometer! : )

I have lots of weird naming "rules" for what I think sounds good, so I'm going to use that. First, I don't like similar sounds to start each name. So Kennedy Kate and Kennedy Claire are out. I also don't like names that have similar endings, so Layla Julia and Layla Juliana are out. I'm not a huge fan of Layla Isabel, either, since Layla ends with a vowel and Isabel starts with a vowel. So that leaves Kennedy Isabel J. I would write out the full name, and first name, middle initial, last name on top of a resume to see how it looks - that's how we chose our little girl's name.
Personally, I like Isabel best as a first name...even if Isabella is popular. I just looked it up and it looks like Isabella ranks #2 for the state of Nevada, but that's still just 166 baby girls with that name in the whole state. The popularity ranks aren't like they used to be, since there are just so many more names out there. My favorite would be Isabel Kate
This!
Love, Love, Love Kennedy Kate.
I just had a friend name her dd Kennedy Reese.
