What do you consider granny panties?

There is a discussion on 3rd tri about buying granny panties for after delivery. It seems low rise briefs=granny panties. Confused I am not sure how to feel about this, as that is the kind of underwear I usually wear and do not consider them GPs.

Does anything not a thong=granny panties now? These kids today!

Funny, my little sister and I were having this talk while at the beach. I was wearing my cute VS standard bikini undies and she called them GPs. I said no GPs are the undies that go all the way up to your belly button that are always tan or white in color it seems. She said no anything that wasn't a thong or lace was a GP. She's 17, I'm 26...we are never going to agree on the matter.

I always thought granny panties were the high-waisted full coverage briefs that are white, beige, or possibly some random large floral print. If anything except a thong is GP, then I wear GP every day of my life.

I agree with your 17 year old sister, sorry! However I bought a pack for being pregnant and afterwards. I don't want to stretch out all my good undies.

VS has some serious granny panties. A label doesn't make them sexy. Stick out tongue

I see GP as panties that go past your belly button or close to it, and are cotton and plain and full-coverage.

My younger sisters, on the other hand, see GP as any panty that is not a boy short or thong.

This is funny. On a related note, I was suprised to see the other day how many people said their DH's prefered boy shorts to thongs, and I asked DH last night what kind of underwear he thinks is the most sexy. And he said, "I like your cotton underwear."

LOL I guess the definition changes as the grannies change. I consider it anything above the hip bone, or rather, anything above the top of the hip bone (VS standard bikinis are OK in my book).

I consider Granny Panties to be the Panties that bunch up and stick out of the back of your pants lol!.. and i dont mean what the teens do now to be like Christina Aguilera and where their thongs sticking out on purpose.. that irks me when i am walking through the mall and i see i 13 year old with her thong straps up over her hips with hip huggers on and a belly top!!

my dh used to love thongs until I switched to wearing them everyday - no he finds them a little bit confusing (used to be - if I was wearing a thong, he was getting lucky)

Seriously though, I demand comfort in my underwear. I cannot stand thongs. There's a lot of cute underwear out there that actually covers most of your tush and are still cute/sexy.

I wear thongs or boy shorts during the day and cotton bikinis at night b/c they're more comfortable for sleeping. DH is so spoiled he calls my night bikinis granny panties. I try to explain that granny panties are the underwear that he sees hanging in his mother's driveway to dry when we pull up (I kid you not), but he doesn't quite get it.

If granny panties change with the times, I wonder what people 30-40 years from now will consider granny panties? Thongs?

Right smack in the middle of the driveway. Apparently, she used to hang the entire family's underwear out for all to see. DH says he still has scars from getting dropped off by friends in high school only to pull up and see his tighty whities blowing in the wind.

I wear Hanes Low Rise Briefs because they are cmofy. My lace boy shorts and thongs stuck up my ass in wedgie form are a thing of the past for me.

I was acutally wearing a pair of white cotton undies and DH thought they were the hottest thing. He asked me to buy more. I was totally surprised over this.

Seriously? You guys think these would qualify as granny panties because they aren't a thong??

I'm going to go mourn the loss of my teenage years now because these are all I wear!! (Not these specific panties, mind you, I do change them everyday....)
