Pennsylvania Babies

This might sound weird...

But, seriously, the more toys we take away from Amelia, the more she actually plays with things. I started filling up a big bin with toys she never touches and putting it in the basement because I was sick of the toys coming out of my ears. Since then, I keep slowly taking more and more way and now she just has a few of her bigger things and they each have one basket of toys and it's AMAZING how much she actually looks at everything and enjoys it all instead of just throwing things around from the huge bin she used to have. And it's a ton less mess - SCORE! Just wanted to throw it out there in case anyone else is sick of looking at toys everywhere;) Our house is really small, so we have little bits of stuff all over and it makes me NUTS!!!

  • I TOTALLY know what you're saying! I separated some of DD's toys and plan on switching them out every so often so that she doesn't get "tired" of the same 'ol stuff all the time. It seems to work pretty well!

  • I have done that, and we have an ottoman in the living room that stores a bunch of toys that he often forgets about until we have a playdate.  Then they go through it and play with all of that stuff.  We will have really limited space when we move.  Right now we can spread it out, so he will play with different things depending on which room he goes in.
  • i'm going to do this today. DD just likes to empty all the bins in her toy organizer... she doesn't really play with any of them, just dumps them out and spreads them around.

i used to rotate toys in and out every week, but i got lazy and most of the toys that never came back are infant toys anyway and she has no interest in them (other than collecting them in a bag and walking around with her "purse" and saying bye bye)
