Any problems grocery shopping?

The other day I was dying for a piece of beef.  Ironically, I?m not really a diehard beef eater.  I went off to Costco anticipating how great a piece of steak would taste once I dropped it on the grill later that evening.  Ladies, I was a happy camper walking up and down the aisles since I had time to spare and was doing fabulous.  Low and behold I came upon the meat section and got a sudden wave, like tsunami of nausea.  Ick!Every time I lifted a package of beef an alarm went off.  After several attempts it hit me like a ton of bricks. I can?t handle the appearance of raw meat.  I had to mad rush my cart out of the meat section to prevent myself from experiencing my first documented case of puking my head off.  Sadly, I went back home and had a Vegan dinner.  SadHas anyone experienced an issue in the grocery store?

  • yes! I LOVE seafood of all kinds and I have never been bothered by the smell but I tell you what..LORD the smell makes me gag every time.

  • I have avoided the grocery store like the plague, just so I don't have to worry about having a issue like you had. My DH has been wonderful about this and gladly taken up the grocery shopping for time being.
  • I couldn't stand to be within smelling distance of the meat department during first tri  :P

  • When I first got my BFP, I craved fried pork chops. Now, I can't stomach them if I tried.
  • I was also at a wholesale store (Sam's) when we came to the meat section, I was carefree, the smells are not like a regular grocery store so I was in heaven. I look down at the steak and it hits me...uuuuhhhhh DH hears me and looks up and then next thing that goes out "OH SH&T" Jen 6 o'clock trash can, I spin around and am head first dry heaving in a trash can in the middle of the meat section! A worker came up to me and asked if I was okay and I said Yeah just pregnant. lol I can't look at raw meat anymore, I can barely look at cooked meat!
  • yup that's chicken for me BLEHHHHH!!! and I must say my dear husband has been sent to the grocery store every time we have needed something!

  • The other night I picked up a rotisserie chicken for dinner and when I went to cut it, I felt the wave of nausea. I can't stand the smell of any type of meat. I had soup for dinner.

  • I am way early and have had very little reactions to anything, except once to meat. I was making some bbq (pulled pork to anyone out of state) and pulled the hunk of meat out of the crockpot. I could have sworn to you it was rancid and ran out of the room gagging. My husband smelled it and said nothing was wrong, but it smelled completely off to me.

I now have a huge container of bbq in my fridge and I haven't touched it once.

  • Good Morning,

Oh YES have I have this problem, for me it started at around week 5ish I was having chicken breast on the BBQ ate maybe 2 bites and couldn't eat it anymore.

Then the thought, site, smell of any type of meat makes me so sick, especially raw meat.

I wrote on a PP that I totally avoid any meat departments especially Wal-Marts.

I can be m/s free and someone talks about meat and it makes me sick... I am a carnivore well was before I got preggers anyway lol

  • can't even think about walking into a grocery store right now.  For the past few weeks I just make lists and get the hubby to go!
  • Going to any food store is pretty dicey lately (read: past 2 months). Not to mention I never know what I'll want or can stomach for a particular meal.

    It sucks.

  • I don't mind seeing the meat, but I definitely cannot stand the meat/seafood section.  It doesn't induce nausea for me but the smell is really, really strong!

  • I have not had problem at the grocery store but there have been a few times DH has cooked something for me and the smell just makes me nauseous. ?Last night he made grilled chicken breasts and I swear it smelled like burning poo.
  • I can make it through the grocery store so long as I completely walk around the meat dept. Last week DH was lucky that I was able to grab him a package of lunch meat- that's my limit. I do ok so long as I stay away from them meat though. So DH's had to go get whatever meat he wants to cook for himself.  I think the last time I had any significant meat was over 4th of July.

  • The smell of the free samples at Costco kills me.  All of those random smells together kills me.

Wow Ladies... thanks for the insight... I feel so much better... LOL

@bb80 I loved the vegan dinner... but my thoughts were still on a juicy 'cooked' steak.  Big Smile
