So, I will post this on 12-24 too because a lot of the girls that were here a few months ago moved over, but DH and I had a really rough patch this past year. I posted forever ago that DH told me "there was no spark". I got a ton of support here and encouragement to go to counseling and I see similar posts on here every day. So, I wanted to spread the good news- DH and I were in counseling, weekly, for 3 months. And this week, we graduated! The therapist said we were doing great and we both feel a lot better. We learned a lot about what each of us was thinking and we got through a lot of crap. It was hard work, real work, and it will be on going. We are even going back in a month to check-in. My H calls it "continuing education credit"- (for those in fields that require that you will think that is funny). Anyway, we even had sex twice last weekend and laugh together again. It has been a long journey, and it will always be work- but we are in a better place now. I am not writing this to be an "AW"- but to give hope to those that are in a bad place right now. I was there, it was aweful, but sometimes you can learn and grow. GL to you all.
Re: We "graduated" from Counseling
awesome! I am so glad to hear of people who work things out instead of giving up on thier marriage.
I don't care if it's not an aw- I am AWing!
Luckily, we have great healthcare that covered all but the $20 copay. I think we had up to 30 visits a year covered- so we used 12 in three months and will now go once a month for a few more months. But, luckily, mental health is covered like anything- I may not make a ton of money- but I have great benefits.
There are alot of churches who offer free counseling. I would sugjest calling around your area and find out! I know especially that calvary chapels do this.
This is a wonderful post and you have every reason to AW it. You two made a great commitment to work on things for your marriage and your child by getting counseling, and I'm so happy that you "graduated". And I have CEUs in my field so that made me giggle.
