anyone have some great appetizer recipes that are no bake, or crock pot only???
I'm looking for some other ideas for food for DD's bday party. We are doing only apps and dessert. But we cant use the oven because we are going apple picking in the morning and then making apple pies for dessert.
Re: appetizer recipes
MIL makes THE MOST awesome meatballs in the crock! She puts a whole bag of meatballs with 1 jar of ketchup and 1 jar of grape jelly (very stange I know) BUT THEY ARE GONE! in 30 sec. FLAT!!!! Cook for a few hours, all day whatever you want, longer you leave the more flavor they get.
Spinach/artichoke dip... They sell it in deli sec, buy it from store and add a bag of Mozz cheese, mix and serve! The cheese MAKES IT!! (I nuke it to melt the ch. and serve warm)
Pasta Salad is always a big hit and you can make it a MILLION diff ways...I buy 1 stick salami, 1 stick pepp., 3-4 blocks of diff. cheeses cut in cubes with 2 boxes of tri color rotini (its prettier)....2 diff salad dressings (oil based) like a 3 cheese italian or rasberry vinag. (whatever you want) more over all cut ingredients, ziplock it in fridge to marinate and put in bowl at party!
Let me know if you need more LOL
I make this for DH (he's diabetic) around Thanksgiving, in place of pumpkin pie. It's soooo yummy:
Pumpkin Whip Dip:
8 oz Cool Whip, softened
1 can (15 oz) pumpkin puree (NOT pie filling)
1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
1 box vanilla pudding (powder only)
I serve it with ginger snaps and graham cracker sticks. Soooo yummy.
Super easy and delish - spread 1-2 pkg of softened cream cheese on a platter, then dump and spread out cocktail sauce until you think it's enough, cover with the little shrimpies (many stores call it shrimp meat) and serve with wheat thins. Surprisingly yummy yet so simple!
We also make what we call white trash dip - melt a brick of cream cheese and add 1 can no bean chili - mix and melt on the cooktop and serve with your choice of chips - my fav are wavy lays.
