If you cut out dairy- why?

what symptoms did you notice in your LO before you cut out dairy? ?If you ate a little bit did you notice something different right away?

I was off dairy for a few weeks b/c of DD's fussiness and I think it got a little better but I don;t know and I don;t know if it's just her growing out of it.

She''s 8 weeks.

But, what are the symptoms to cut it out and did pedi recommend it? ?If LO has some formula do you have to use a special kind??

I'm trying to cut out dairy - I'm still in the early stages of figuring out what to eat to replace it. DS had reflux early on - it became noticeable when he was a few weeks old and super fussy. He would scream predictably about a half hour after nursing and was regularly uncomfortable and arching his back all the time. I tried to cut dairy then as recommended by the LC but it made little difference. Luckily, the reflux got a lot better at 2 months old without any dietary modifications on my part. However, shortly after that, he started developing eczema and now he has skin rashes on aregular basis. The ped had him tested for allergies and he is indeed allergic to cow's milk. So I'm trying again to cut out dairy to see if it's the cause of the eczema. It might not be, but since I know he's allergic, I have to at least give it a try.

  • I cut out dairy for three full weeks and didn't notice any difference in how often my babies screamed and scrunched up because of their horrible gas.  So I'm back on it now.  I think it's just something they're going to grow out of eventually.
  • I cut it because my daughter was having poop issues.  She was pooping green mucusy poop and was filling double her usual number of diapers.  She also started having blood in her poop towards the end.  I noticed a slight difference after a week, but it really didn't improve much until three weeks after I gave up dairy.
  • I cut out dairy because nothing else was working and my little one spent the first 2 months of life screaming.  Now she is so much better but if I slip up and eat dairy you can tell in her behavior the next day.
  • I did as my little one has reflux, and my pediatrician suggested i watch dairy, carbonation, soy, and caffeine.  I cut them all out for 2 months, and i've recently added back in dairy, and the occassional soda.  I honestly didn't notice a difference when i went back to dairy.  Perhaps it's because my little one is getting older / the reflux is getting better, but i'm glad to be able to eat cheese again! :)
