I was trying to look up what Lilly's birthstone color would be and I got a few different answers....Opal, Rose Zircon, some orangey color...which one is it?

So there is multiple ones...I wish it was just one...I like the Rose on the best but if Opal is the correct one I would feel weird with the Rose one...
eta-- I am pretty traditional in most aspects so I think I will have to go with the Opal.

Opal is the traditional long standing stone for October.
My sister and cousin are both October babies...and Opal has always been the one they use.
Lately I have noticed that many months have been changing and moving towards different stones....I am November and topaz has always been the standard (particularly in brown/gold tones because it is fall) but recently they added the citrine (a golden color)

Ditto. We have many Oct. birthdays and it's always been Opal. I've also heard that it's bad luck to wear Opal if you weren't born in Oct...if you're suspicious about things like that ;-)
I wonder if the multiple stone options are coming about due to some kind of over-mining scarcity?

Yeah, I have wondered if it was due to supply and demand and/or cost of the stone. Citrine is cheaper than the brown and gold shaded topaz...smokey topaz seems to be rocketing up in price as of late.
perdot seems to be taking over one of the months too (which one escapse me right now)...it is cheaper than the traditional one for that month.
I have heard that about opals too...about not wearing it if it is not your birthstone.
I kind of always wished I was May...just so I could have emeralds. lol.

Peridot is the traditional birthstone for August. I hate it, K's bday is in Aug.
I've heard that too about the Opal but I'm going to live on the wild side. LOL! I really want a ring with all 3 of our birthstones in it. DH is July so a Ruby, I'm September so a Sapphire, and DD is Oct so Opal. I'm going to have it set so it is red, "white", and blue.

Kind of a random/funny story, my grandmother always told us her birthday was in October. Little did we (the grandkids) know that it was because she preferred the opal birthstone over her true peridot (August) one. Plus I guess there was some doctoring of her birth certificate back in the day that helped her story...
I'm another October baby and always thought it was opal... but opal comes in many shades, DH got me a fire opal from Mexico that was an orange-y base color, I love it!

Opal. My parents anniversary is on Oct. 2nd and my mom had tons of Opal jewelry (which I now have).
BTW-I love Opal b/c of all the colors you can see!
