To Swaddle or not To Swaddle?

I was just wondering when you stopped swaddling your little one?

How was the weaning process?

I am going back to work next week, and the re-swaddling in the middle of the night is killing me. I thought about weaning her from the swaddle for the remainder of this week, but I am not sure if it's too early or if it matters what age a baby is.

No advice, we're still swaddling at night and sometimes at naps.

I swaddled DD#1 until she was 6 months old. It was to get her to sleep at night, and when she broke out of the swaddle, I didn't get up and re-swaddle her (she was STTN).

I don't think it's too early. When DS was 6-8 weeks old he would wiggle out of it so we stopped swaddling then.

1. what is the issue with re-swaddling at night?

2. what type of swaddle are you using?

3. if swaddling allows LO to sleep well - then let it be.

DS STTN 12-13 hours but when he was getting up several times a night we did not always unswaddle him. We used miracle blankets (and could pop his legs out for a diaper change and then pop them back in and tighten the blanket a bit). Now we use the swaddleme or whatever. I can swaddle him with either of these in the complete dark - no issue. We would often unswaddle. change. feed. re-swaddle. feed a little more. hold upright for 10 min. and then in the crib with no issue.

I stopped swaddling him at 2 months. He went into his crib at that point, and I swaddled for 1 week, then put him in a sleepsack and he did just fine. I'm relieved - I despise swaddling!!

We still swaddle DD, and will probably continue to for awhile, since she doesn't sleep as well if we don't. We use the Miracle Blanket, and she has yet to break out of it in the middle of the night.

We stopped 3 wks ago because DS was loosening the Miracle Blanket and it was getting close to wrapping around his head. It was ok to wean, one arm out for 2 nights, then no swaddle. He doesn't sleep like he used to but I think that has more to do with milestones more than the swaddle. He loves sleeping w/ his hands under his head. I would swaddle as long as possible and as long as LO still likes it

We stopped cold turkey 2 nights ago because I was sick of waking him up to swaddle him after he fell asleep eating. So far he's been fine, I just held him until he was sound asleep (plus because of his reflux I have to keep him upright for 20 mins after eating anyways) and then laid him down. Both nights he woke up but fell back asleep on his own.
