I didn't read the whole thing, but did she already have a frillion other kids? Was she on welfare?
If she was, and i was the doc, i would be tempted to do the same thing. Even though I know it's not right.
And flame me if you wish. I don't care. Most of the older moms on here know how I feel about having babies when you know you're gonna be on public assistance.
Not that I would ever agree with the violation of a woman's body...it looks like it was her third, no word on whether or not she was on public assistance...
I think that regadless lf the mothers situation it is insane to do any sort of medical procedure without consent. Who thinks they have the right to do that?
I'll admit that I didn't read the entire thing, and if it is true as written, then of course, it's awful, no matter what the rationale or circumstances.
?However, in my experience,?there's ALWAYS more to the story in patient/health care provider disputes. I've heard patients allege some pretty outrageous things. Unfortunately, it doesn't mean the events actually happened as she alleges....sometimes people will have a change of heart after making a medical decision and just want someone to pay for their heartache if the consequences weren't what they imagined. Sad but true.

I see that...the Physician's Report looks like it was written by a second doctor who examined the medical records furnished by the hospital. If it written by a peer review board from the hospital, that's one thing...but what if it was written by an expert witness hired by the patient's attorney? Just being the Devil's advocate...

This is pretty disgusting. Accepting public assistance does not mean the abdication of bodily autonomy or reproductive rights. Also pretty weird that your mind immediately jumped to her being on assistance, and that that somehow lessened the egregiousness of the physician's action.
