Choosing Names

How did youand your husband choose names. Did you each make a list then kinda see what was the same then rank them then chose. I have heard of some people doing it that way. We have 2 to pick out and then 2 middle names so I was sondering what worked well for you. And if you didn't agree how did you compromise?

    We just borrowed a baby name book from the library and both of us just went through the list and decided on names that we liked. We talked it through and decided that DH would pick the girl name and I would do the boy name. Well he won, because we are having a girl. As for middle name we decide to do something along the lines of using a family name.

    MH and I have talked about baby names since we were dating so once I got pg, it was just about solidifying a few.  We've always known that we wanted our children to have at least one family name so that narrowed it down quite a bit.

    Otherwise, anytime one of us comes across a name we like, we'll run it by the other and they either agree or veto.

    I think a good place to start is to decide if you want your babes to have classic names or something more trendy.  That will probably help narrow it down some.  GL!  It's a huge decision!

    We talked about names on our honeymoon. DS came really easy. DD was going to be Isabelle...but then twilight happened, so bella was out and I stopped liking Izzy...so our liking of that name sorta fizzled. Now, DH is convinced that DD should be nn'd "Allie" so I have been on the search for a full name to go with that. So I would say the process was a little out of the ordinary for us.

    We each made a short list, gave eachother 2 free vetos and that seemed to work. In the end he went my way with the name because we couldnt find a happy medium.

    I went through the books and made a list of maybe about 100 names that I would consider.  Then DH went through my list and vetoed a bunch.  Then I went through and took out hte ones that I wasn't that keen on.  We went back and forth until we had about 5 names left on the list that we could both live with.  I made the final choice from those.

    we had initials to work from.  i came up with a short list and in the end talked him into both the first and middle names!
