Hi ladies! We put Keaton in his crib for the first time last night and he did really well. He only got up once through the night so that is definitely progress. He was normally waking up every 2-3 hrs in the PNP. I have a few questions about STTN.
1. Did he/she just STTN out of nowhere or was it something that progressed slowly? (ex: 3 hr, 4 hr, 5 hr stretches to finally all night)
2. How old was your LO when he/she STTN?
3. How many hours does your LO sleep at night?
4. What time do you put them to bed?
5. What is your bedtime routine?
Re: STTN questions
1. There was definitely a progression to get to the point where he slept through the night. I was breastfeeding, so he still needed to eat every 2.5-3 hours for a bit, but I remember that first 5 hour night, haha. It scared me because I was so used to having to get up. I was so full and actually it kinda hurt until he ate, haha.
2. He was 10 weeks old when he started sleeping through the night, and that was about a 6 hour night, then he'd eat around either 5 or 6am and then go back to sleep until around 9, especially if i let him sleep on me.
3. Currently at 19 months he sleeps about 11 hours at night, and 1 nap during the day which is about 1.5-2.5 hours long.
4. Eli goes down between 8:30 and 9:00pm because I like him to get up later in the morning. He sleeps until around 7:30-8. He used to sleep until 9, haha.
5. For bed, we actually at this point usually have on a disney pixar movie to help settle him down, give him his milk and paci. Right before we lay him down we read him a book, and then he goes to bed! I know its different because hes a bit older than your little man, but things to look forward to!
Hi Lesli!
1. Did he/she just STTN out of nowhere or was it something that progressed slowly? (ex: 3 hr, 4 hr, 5 hr stretches to finally all night). We were waking him up every 3 hours to eat but once he hit birthweight at 3 weeks the dr. said we could let him sleep. He started going about 3-4 hours then and then at 5 weeks we started swaddling him and he went 5 hours and has slowly worked his way up to 8-10 now at 12 weeks.
2. How old was your LO when he/she STTN? He started doing 6 hours abour 6 weeks
3. How many hours does your LO sleep at night? 8-10
4. What time do you put them to bed? weekdays around 8or 9 and then later on weekends so we can sleep in more
5. What is your bedtime routine? We just started a semi routine last Thursday when I went to work. He gets a bath then nurses and then when he is done nursing he goes in his swing and falls asleep and when I go to bed I take him up to the crib.
1. Did he/she just STTN out of nowhere or was it something that progressed slowly? (ex: 3 hr, 4 hr, 5 hr stretches to finally all night) she progressed slowly
2. How old was your LO when he/she STTN? Makayla 1st started STTN around 10 weeks
3. How many hours does your LO sleep at night? she sleeps 11-12 hours
4. What time do you put them to bed? now she goes to bed at 8pm, when she was younger she was in bed at 6:30-7:00pm
5. What is your bedtime routine? bath, milk, brush teeth, read stories in bed. we start our routine at 7:15-7:30

There was a progression. When he was as little as yours, I'd go to bed very early since I handled night wakings and DH would stay up with him and put him to bed around 11 or 12. At one point, we just woke up in the morning and realized he'd slept from 12 to 6. My boobs were ready to explode! But I'd say he was still waking up once during the night until he was about 2-3 months. We just started putting him to bed earlier and earlier once he was sleeping through the night. We did have some issues with him waking up when he was around 5-6 ,months, and we did Ferber's method of sleep training at 6 months.
Currently, Adam sleeps between 10 and 11 hours at night. We start his routine at 7:45 with a bath, then get him in his PJs, give him a snack, read him his bedtime books and have him in bed by 8:30.
2. How old was your LO when he/she STTN? She was about 14 weeks.
3. How many hours does your LO sleep at night? About 10 hours give or take an hour
4. What time do you put them to bed? Between 8 & 9.
5. What is your bedtime routine? We don't really have one. I usually try and feed her between 7 & 8 and I give her a bath twice a week around 7/7:30. Sometimes she will fall asleep on her own downstairs. If she doesn't by 8:30 I usually take her upstairs and either rock her for a few minutes or put her in her crib. usually she will put herself to sleep there have only been a couple of times that I had to go back up there.
She is an excellent sleeper but not the best napper!
1. He started having longer stretches.
2. At 8 weeks he was sleeping 5-6 hour stretches. At 3.5 months he slept 7.5 hour stretches randomly then we went through the 4 month wakeful and things haven't really been the same since (but that's also when his itching from allergies started). Any time he is teething, learning new things his sleep is disturbed. Also, any time he doesn't eat enough during the day (daycare days - he was too distracted there to eat then started refusing bottles) he's up more at night to eat. Point of my story is that sleep can change at any time for many reasons, at least for us.
3. 9-11 total hours sleeping. He wakes twice during that time. From reading sleep training info, this is pretty typical for his age.
4. Between 7:30 and 8pm.
5. Bath, pajamas, books, nurse, rock until drowsy or asleep.

1. Natalie just starting sleeping through the night out of no where. While we were in the hospital they would bring her to me every 2 hours to eat however once we got home, the first 2 weeks or so she would sleep for like 5 hours and get up to eat and back down until 6am or so.
2. we were very lucky, by a month she was sleeping like 6 hour stretches. the doctor said it is probably because she would eat every 2 hours during the day that she was fed enough then that she didn't need up at night.
3. She sleeps about 10hours, sometimes longer if we let her but I have to get her up by 7 because of working.
4. By 9pm
5. Around 8ish we give her a bath and then she usually wants to read a book or two or three or 4 lol and has a sippy cup of milk (but not always) and then we take her to her crib at 9 and she puts herself to sleep with a nightlight and music. This actuallly just started happening about two months ago...we had to transistion Natalie from having a cup of milk every night and being rocked to sleep but she transitioned smoothly.
Everyone has told us how lucky we are with her because she has always been an easy baby for bed time.
1. Progression! I can't even remember Amelia's stuff anymore, but I know it wasn't really STTN until about 6 mos or so. Nick is slowly getting there.
2. Amelia - maybe 6 mos? Nick - not yet!
3. He usually sleep until somewhere between 9 and 12. If he eats at 9, he usually gets up again around 3 or 4, if he eats at midnight, he usually sleeps until 5 or 6.
4. He goes to bed really early - usually by about 6, sometimes even 5 if he's really sleepy.
5. We don't really have one for either kid. For Nick, just a diaper and clothing change and eating, then he goes to bed. For Amelia we do teeth brushing, potty, usually a book, then bed. They don't get baths every day, so we didn't make it a part of a bedtime routine like I know many people do. Sometimes I wish we did because I know it's so calming for so many kids, but we don't have a bathtub, they take showers with us most of the time, so it usually happens earlier in the day on the days that they get scrubbed down.
1. It was kinda of a progression, but she took me by surprise when she first started STTN.
2. approx. 3 months
3. Now, 10-11 hours, but early on it was more like 8-9
4. Usually between 8:30-9
5. Bath, pj's, read, (used to do a night time feeding also).
