I'm new to the board and only 7 weeks along, but I've had hip and knee pain that has already put me in the hospital. I had hip and IT band issues before I was pregnant thanks to sitting in my office chair too long and wearing crazy heels, both of which I have stopped doing. The problem is, I can't take anti-inflammatories or get my massage therapist to "fix" me, which is what I used to do to deal with this. Even doing my regular yoga classes is making it worse. My jerk of an orthopedist is acting as if I'm just a wuss or making it up, and has basically told me that I have to suck it up until the end of my first trimester because no one will do any testing on me to figure out what's wrong, even though my OB said an MRI would be ok if I needed it.
Can anyone recommend a good female orthopedist in the area who will take me seriously and actually try to help me?
Thanks!
Re: Good female orthopaedist for joint pain?
I don't have a female orthopedist but I use to see Dr. George Branche.

I only had to see him once and he scheduled me for physical therapy sessions with Inova Outpatient Physical Therapy in Vienna, VA. I have never been on anti-inflammatories or required massage therapy despite my osteoarthritis (I'm in my late 20s), tight IT bands, and patella tracking issues. The good women at Inova had me stretching, strength training, and on the electrode machine to help stimulate the weakened muscles around my knee. We also got me fitted for custom insoles which has helped me out tremendously. I remember it took me a while to see Dr. Branche because of his popularity. He sees some of the Redskins and is a huge sports fan but he was great and approached my ailments with a sense of humor asking me what I'd done to deserve knees of a 50-year old. I really think that the physical therapy that I got from the recommendation of Dr. Branche has helped me out a ton. I believe we worked on the source of the issue rather than on the symptoms.
Hope things turn around for you! I really miss taking Aleve which is always my saving grace when it comes to arthritis flare ups.
