So, I did Ferber last night and she only cried for 8 minutes before passing out. I went in at the 5 minute mark, gave her kisses and laid her back down. She only cried for 3 more minutes. The best part... she slept straight until 8am(went down at 10pm).
DH called me at 11am and said he was doing it for her nap. He had basically an identical experience. She didn't cry for long at all.
I'm so glad this is going way better than I imagined. I had visions in my head of her clawing her way out of the crib and just being a slobbering mess (or was that me??) LOL
The moral of the story is this: If you are contemplating doing Ferber, I highly suggest it. DH and I have been having such horrible nights the past 3 weeks and we had almost just given up and decided that it was our fate to have a cranky baby waking up every 2 hours. Our choices were to either do nothing or try something. If the "something" didn't work, we'd be back in the same boat we were in to begin with. To me, it was worth it to give it a shot.
Re: Ferber is a success, so far....
Does anyone have a cookie for this b!tch?
I'm very aware of the other methods. I researched them all and Ferber is what I chose. What's it matter to you?
If you haven't noticed, my daughter is 8 months old and I said we did nothing for over 3 weeks. How is that rushing to Ferber?
cvnt
People seem to associate Ferber with CIO - so not the same thing!!!
Ferber worked wonders for us too - DS goes to sleep so peacefully on his own. I would do it again in a heartbeat!!!
GL to you - I hope the success continues!!!
apparently no one's allowed to mention Ferber (or CIO) w/o someone else stepping in to make them feel guilty and argue w/ them about their choices for their family.
no kidding, huh?
I thought they had an attachment parenting board now! Hey punk, where's your "go back to your own board" badge?? I'm in need of it. LOL
Did the pdf help any?

yes! thank you. I showed DH the time table chart so he could have an idea of the method. I'm actually reading it off and on at work today.
