Who has a tv in their bedroom?

I'm against it but so many people do and I wonder how often you really watch it and if you ever considered removing it?

Re: Who has a tv in their bedroom?

  • We had one at our old place and made the decision when we moved to our house to take it out. I'm so glad we did - I like having our bedroom just for sleeping (and sex, if that ever happens again). And now that our LO sleeps with us, we'd never use it anyway.

  • We do but Im on BR so it would make for a VERY long day without it. Before now, we rarely used it.
  • We have one and I would say I watch it everyday.  I like to unwind by getting in my PJ's and watching a few shows before bed and since our bedroom is the only room that we really keep cool in the summer (my husband can tolerate warmer temps better than I can so he watches TV downstairs and keeps the therm. set to a higher temp) it's been a godsend since becoming pregnant.
  • Nope. We never have & really don't plan on it.  Sometimes when we feel super-lazy on Saturday mornings, we think it would be so nice to do breakfast in bed with a tv, but we know we'd never leave the room if we did that.

We have two tvs in our house, so one in the bedroom seems so silly.

  • We have one in our room.  We only have 2 tvs in the house so we use this one alot.  Every night atleast.  Plus I suffer from insomnia so I will watch it when I can't sleep.  Never would think of getting rid of it.
  • We don't have one and I LOVE it!  We have a nice flat screen in the family room that is plenty.

  • We do. That way DD can watch TV in the living room and I don't miss my shows. No TV for the kids' room.
  • I know we shouldn't but we do. We watch it a lot. I love waking up early on weekend mornings and watching a movie in bed with DH without the kids knowing we're even up or hearing anything.
  • We have one. We use it every once in a while for a movie in bed.  It's fun to camp out w/ DH and the kitties in the bedroom.

Other than that, I use it in the mornings for the news.  I like to hear it when I'm getting around in the bathroom.

  • We have one. I watch it while putting clothes away. DH and I will sometimes watch it before bed if one of us is tired and something is on the other wants to watch (like DH will watch the end of the game and I'll go to sleep).

It's lame but I like 'going upstairs' together even if it means DH watching tv while I snooze.

  • We do - we watch it every morning as we get ready and before bed at night.

  • We have one, it helps me fall asleep.  The Food Network blocks out the noise in my head.  Also DH and I watch cartoons in bed on the weekends sometimes.  I'm sure that will end after the lillte guy comes.

  • I live in a studio apartment right now, and since converting our "bed nook" into a teeny tiny nursery, our living room and bedroom have become one. So yes, tv in our "bedroom." We don't even have basic cable, though -- just use the tv for dvds, so it's not a distraction. And it's pretty nice to be snuggled up in bed watching a movie.

  • We watch it some.  We will turn it on before we go to sleep or on the weekends when we wake up.  If I'm tired I will lay down and watch TV until I fall asleep.

  • We do.  I need noise to fall asleep and that's when I get to catch up on some shows that I don't get to watch during the day.  I put the weather channel on when I get out of the shower in the morning also, so I guess we use ours enough to justify it, and I wouldn't want to get rid of it.

  • We do.  When my husband was on his first deployment, I was having a hard time sleeping because of random noises that I would hear at night.  Fans and music didn't help so I resorted to the TV.  Worked like a charm and now I can't sleep without one on.

We watch all of our shows while laying in bed and it gives me something to do when I have bouts of insomnia.

  • We do but we hardly watch it.  Sometimes it helps me go to sleep.

  • We do and we watch the news on it every morning while getting ready for work

  • No tv in our bedroom. We only have one tv in our house and it is in the living room. My SO has always been an early riser so I decided we should not have a tv in our bedroom to prevent being woken up by him :)
  • We do. But the only time we ever use it is going to bed...we will put something on and maybe watch it or else just use it as white noise. I also put it on sometimes in the mornings or on the weekend while I get ready to go somewhere.
  • We do but we don't have cable so it is just for movies... maybe one a week?

  • We do, and I use it every night.  DH works nights and I fall asleep with it on when he's gone.  I also occasionally use it if DH and I both want to watch something different at the same time, but DVR has mostly solved this problem.

  • We have one. ?It took us a while before we finally put on in there though. ?We're going to be moving in a few weeks, so at our new house, we are not going to have a TV in our bedroom. ?I prefer having just one TV in the living/family room.
  • we have one and we watch it every night together in bed instead of sitting in the living room bc I fall asleep so fats anywayz...

I don't see anything wrong with it..I always wonder why people are against it...My parents havent had a TV in their bedroom for like 15 years until recently..My brother and I always thought it was weird bc we were given TV in our rooms.

I also know people who will not let kids have TV in their rooms which is more understandable but whatever..

  • We do and I love it. In the mornings I watch the news as I'm getting ready for work and a little bit at night when winding down for bed. Also when a tv show conflicts DH and I don't have to miss our shows. We actually have 3 tvs in the house now, one more is going in baby's room mostly for when my mom's in town so she can watch from the comfort of her bed as she has sleep issues. We spend way more time infront of our computers than infront the tvs though, esp. on the weekdays.

  • We have one.  I watch the weather channel every morning for the weather and traffic as I am getting ready.  Then some nights we will turn it on for a couple of minutes before we go to bed, but not very often.

  • I don't care to have one in the bedroom, but the hubby can only fall asleep if its on.  So we compromised and he puts the sleep timer on so it shuts off automatically.
  • We do. I usually watch it for a bit, then turn it off. DH is a very light sleeper too, so when he wakes up in the middle of the night (which is frequently) he sometimes turns it on for a bit. It doesn't wake me up.

I admit though, I wouldn't miss it if we removed it.

  • Yes, and I love it. I only watch it when I'm folding clothes or right before bed to watch the news and while we're waiting for LO to kick us goodnight.
  • We do but I dont like it b/c I cant sleep through the night with it on but DH has to watch it before he can fall asleep.

We have compromised though and I wear an eye mask and he wears wireless headphones so he can hear the sound.?

  • Nope, DH is against it. He thinks it's an intimacy killer. I have no preference either way, but I gotta say, I do enjoy the quiet and comfort of no tv in the bedroom.
  • I do, and I love it. We use the tv for television (of course) and movies and music. I like to learn stuff, and the Discovery/History/NatGeo channels are awesome for when you're folding the mountains of laundry and such.  And as the bedroom is one of the few rooms of the house with AC, I often refuse to leave it.
  • We do.  I really only watch it at night while starting to unwind.  Sometimes I might flip on a game or something while getting ready, but very rarely.  It has come in handy now that DS is getting older and has certain things he likes to watch after bathtime but before bed.  He will watch it in our room while MH or I watch something out in the family room.  It gives us a break from listening to cartoons.
  • We have one simply b/c my husband was away for three weeks in May, and I put my little leftover college one in there to make noise so I could fall asleep at night (HATE not having DH in bed with me!!).

It's still in the room, simply b/c we have been too lazy to move it out!
