Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Dayquil is ok while nursing right?

I bought some a few months ago and I guess I took some but I totally don't remember doing it lol. So I'm assuming it's ok to take while bfing, right? Just thought I'd check.

  • My pedi said I could take anything I want while BFing for a cold.  You just may see a drop in milk supply and it may make LO irritable.  It just depends on you and baby, if you didn't notice anything I'm sure it was just fine!

  • Because of the decongestent in it, it might reduce your milk supply.

  • The drop in supply is the only downside- so be aware of that; a nurse on my hospitals bf'ing line told me cold medicines dry up "all bodily fluids"
  • I was always told no decongestants
