TMI - What is this AWFUL rectal pressure?!

Seriously, I feel like a body part is going to come out of my butt.  I get these sharp pains where I feel like I need to have a bowel movement, but it goes away very quickly - and there is absolutely NOTHING going on in the poop front.  It feels like I'm about to pass gas or something but it goes as quickly as it comes.  Is this baby dropping or something else?  Go to the doctor on Wednesday, but seriously...it feels like i'm gonna birth a baby out of my butt.  lol.

  • Yeah, I started getting that around the same time as you.  I don't know what it is.  I still have it.  Doc is just like, "yeah, there is a moving baby in there, it is going to be painful".  LOL, thanks.  I call it lightningasshole.

  • Ha!  Well it's definitely an interesting feeling.  Today was the first time I felt it, right in the middle of my baby shower.  I seriously had to sit on one buttcheek because it hurt to sit my butt all the way down!

  • Yup, sounds about right.  My first was walking in Target, and I wanted to grab my butt and scream "OW!" for quite a while.  I thought it meant she was dropping, but my baby isn't that low yet, unfortunately.

  • My first day at my job, 6 years ago, one of my coworkers asked if I had kids. I told her no and she said, "this is very important, no one will ever tell you this and you need to know it, it feels like you are pooping out the baby when it is born, you seriously think it comes out your butt."  Not sure why she told me this or anything, but I will never forget it! Just thought I'd share!

She was so right!!!  Every one in birthing class and my doctors kept telling me about the "urge to push" but there was never a real explanation of that.  It literally feels like when you have to go #2 and can't wait.  It feels like you have to go to the bathroom really really badly.

When I was having DD the nurse came in after my pitocin and said "are you having the urge to push?" and I said "I'm not sure but I need to go to the bathroom really badly"

Her response "I'll go get the doctor.  The baby's coming"

I was so confused.  This time I guess I'll be a little more prepared.

  • I've had that off and on for a few days. It's a sharp, shooting pain. But, I had it sometimes before being PG so I just associated it with gas pains, which are of course more intense during pregnancy.
