I'm drawing a blank on all the baby food posts I read all the time. I'm so sorry to ask! I don't really make my own baby food yet, but I'm going the semi-homemade route for a couple of things.
I found canned organic pumpkin and have added water to a little bit of it to make a puree out of it. So far DS seems to like it. However, there's a lot of it and I'm wondering if I should add water to the rest and freeze it for future feedings or should I just freeze it in the more concentrated form and then add water when I defrost and feed it to him?
Wholesomebabyfood.com says not to freeze in Gerber containers, which is what I was planning on doing until I just read that part of the website a second ago. Any other suggestions of something I might have in the house right now that is a good thing to use for freezing baby food?
Any advice would be appreciated!
Re: Freezing baby food
you can use any ice cube tray to freeze baby food. and yeah, I'd add the water (or BM or Formula) before freezing, although it probably doesn't matter much either way.
Why not the gerber containers?
same
I freeze in ice cube trays then store the cubes in freezer bags
ETA: I know your not supposed to freeze in the glass gerber jars cause it can cause glass to get into the food. I don't know about the plastic ones.
It says they asked Gerber and it was not recommended to use them for extreme temperatures. If anyone has tried it and had no problems, I would love to hear from you!
We usually use ice cube trays and then after a couple hours when they are frozen, we move the frozen cubes into a freezer bag. Last night we ran out of ice cube trays so we used the plastic Gerber containers and they worked just the same as the trays. It worked for us so I'm sure it would work for you too!
Thank you for all your help and ideas!!
